Six months since I got laid off from my (day) job of 20 years. Just landed a new job starting Monday. Took advantage of the time off to address my addiction problem, checked into an IOP shortly after I got laid off. I’m glad I was fortunate enough to do that, and it remains ongoing, with counseling, etc. If I did not do that, I know exactly where I would be, most likely drinking myself into a bottomless pit of despair. Been dealing with this for decades in my own half-assed way. Some successes, many failures. Taking it one day at a time and walking into this new phase of employment with positive vibes.
