Quite often, my pain keeps me awake. Though I take sleep medication it is not uncommon for me to stay awake for two or three days occasionally more. I have honestly lost count of the times I have slept less than 10 hours in a 5-day period. Today I am grateful for rest. Over the last week, I have had two such days, yet I was able to sleep 8 hours yesterday during the day and caught another 6hrs last night. Being 43y/o my body doesn't tolerate the lack of sleep as well as it used to, so for the rest I was able to get yesterday, I am very grateful.

Dang… Do you know why you are getting so little sleep?
Absolutely. Pain. I have a ruptured S1L5 and a herniated 5-4 and 4-3. 2 pelvic fractures and a tailbone that is in 7 pieces. I had a really bad skiing accident in 2003. Not to mention I am ADHD, unmedicated so when I awake in pain, assuming I was able to first fall asleep, my mind reels endlessly. I take a combination of melatonin, magnesium, trazadone, Robaxin and extra strength Tylenol PM. Even with all that I would say the chances of me getting any rest is maybe 70% any given night.
I do t work out past 2pm and do t drink coffee past 11am, if at all, otherwise I am sure to have a sleepless night. Such has been the case almost my entire adult life.
