I have tried AA meetings and did them for weeks and sometimes 2-3 a day. I had a bad experience so i’m trying to find out what works for me and the right group I can stay consistent with and find people my age with similarities. TY for your input.
I feel you. WE WILL FIGURE IT OUT and i’m determined to be better than this and know I AM. I lost my job last year and that’s where i got lost. I NEVER been this way or atleast this bad into my depression where it’s kept me days in my bed. Maybe that community service is a blessing considering you gotta get your
up no matter what! lol.
No but on a serious note… we got this and hmu if you wanna chat. Always good to have women in our corner we can relate to.
Have you considered getting back into work? It may help with financial situation, and you will be socializing
One thing I can say in response to your post is that sleep was very helpful for me in the beginning and now!
Yes!!! Oh my stars-YES!!! I experienced this so much! I thought when I quit drinking all my depression would go away. Wrong! What I learned was that I had to give my body the rest it needed. Journaling, prayer, tons of tears & therapy really helped. It will get better- promise! Be gracious & patient with yourself while you’re finding the new you. Here for ya!!
You are welcome
I didn’t want meds at first especially since I was an meth at my rock bottom.
Meds helped cope with the trauma I had from the divorce. But I had to keep
Working the my program of AA. Spiritual growth is very important in our sobriety program.
One day at a time.. I wanted everything now!
I’m a more right now guy, well that’s who I was before sobriety…
I surrounded myself with positivity. From new friends, to music, to books to what I saw on IG and movies/tv shows…
My old ways had to change.
Yes!! That’s part of the whole “body reset” thing, and I definitely got through the first few months of sobriety with tooonnsss of sleep and absolutely zero motivation. It helped to remind myself that my only job was to not drink.
Clean house, don’t clean house, sleep all the time, pull all nighters: doesn’t matter! Your body is going to have to swing around for a while before it balances itself out. I got about month 4 and started seeing a pretty good jump in energy levels. But that’s my body- yours might take less time.
Either way- keep at it! The longer you push through, the more benefits you’ll see. And the depression and listlessness really does ease up
Sending all the good vibes your way!
Its taken me meds to get my depression under control and get myself motivated, not for everyone but welbutrons been helpful for me
I’ve learned after years of
being in and out that my diet makes a huge difference
I couldn’t focus on anything. I couldn’t read for more than a few minutes without being distracted. My anxiety super high for at least the first three weeks. Putting in my AirPods and listening to guided meditation really helped me a lot. That was one of my discoveries that I really liked that LOL. I would say be open to discovering new ways to spend your time. And if you feel unmotivated just keep trying some thing new until it clicks. Rooting for you!!
It’s been hard to weed out the difference between “sobriety depression” and the depression over trainwrecking my most important relationships. Plus the stress of a new job. Therapy has helped immensely. Just try to keep busy…new hobby, old hobby that doesn’t trigger, whatever. And talk to a Pro.
Yes, lol. I am starting back again in a week. That’s why i’m nervous. I need to put my sobriety first and foremost and life is going to get stressful. I’m scared. I can’t F this up. I need to work to provide. I’ve always been independent and strong . Working and providing has never been an issue for me. I never lost a job in my entire life. I’ve worked since i was 15 years old, non-stop.
So nice to know Im not the only one who suffers like this. Ty sm. We need to connect.
Just breathe and take things really slow. Go slow to move fast. Things feel chaotic, embrace the chaos and just breathe. It's ok to not be motivated. You are doing something really hard. Your motivation will come back. It all takes time
Heck yes. It’s a break up. But for life. Think about it. You’re going through a painful time because it’s something you loved and relied on for so long. The best thing to do is just cry! Sleep! And be unmotivated for now but get back up asap and get to work and move forward. Without going through a grief stage we will obsess over the situation and we relapse after to deal with it. I got 14 days of that feelin GB you shared. But I make sure I get up stick to a routine at least trying right now, actually get dressed and do things. It’s hard like real hard but what I’ve learned this last time around is why I kept relapsing I didn’t know my why I used substances to numb the pain and feelings my body and mind needed to feel in order to process this change and newness! Listen you’re okay! Get some ice cream and enjoy it for me! Just slow down and make sure you think for yourself right now. I went to dinner tonight out to a nice place alone just me myself and I I’m still depressed sorta but I’m working the steps but man how amazing it was to just go on a date with me tonight! You need to fall in love with who you are! Sorry for the long text I just feel for you. I’d put blankets over my windows and watch movies but that lead me to walk on over to the liquor store to buy some whisky and start over. As hard as it sounds just get up and do things go for a walk!
Don’t be! You kidding how awesome this is for you! You’re starting a new life a rebirth I’d say get a journal and sit down this week and write down your whys and how much pain and suffering this disease has caused you write a letter to it letting it know how much you hate it. Also write down some goals make them small! You got this girrrrll
I’d say keep going back! Download the app the meeting guide it gives you a massive amount of meetings to choose from. Get back on the horse and go to others that’s all part of recovery not giving up. Just because one bad experience h makes you not wanna go back is a bad excuse. It’s your addict mind talking. I’m really not here why else besides church groups! Get with a group of ladies you like youlll find them! And keep trying. Shoot you
I feel ya and ask the same questions…there’s nothing more to say than above. This app is great but it’s easy to read a reply than to move on. Finding a personal connection helps me most. I can read forever but until I talk to someone or FaceTime or something it doesn’t mean as much
Find a personal connection is my point
Meds.,have helped me also. There is nothing wrong with taking meds. The meds. Help me sleep also., I need lots of sleep to reset my body and mind.
