I go through the same thing. I have to force myself to do things, but I usually feel better after doing so. Like David said, busy yourself with meetings. You'll find some people to do stuff with that you don't wanna do

Absolutely. Was and is one of the worst parts of getting sober, (at least for me). Two things I highly recommend. First you absolutely need to get into therapy of some kind. Obviously we couldn't stop our addictions by ourselves, so take the help if it's available. Second, you need to be around loved ones who support you. WAY to hard to do by yourself. It's a pain, but totally doable. Hang in there. Be praying for you

I find the best way to gain energy and help with mood is to live an active lifestyle. Find a way of working out that you enjoy and stick with it. Hiking, gym, sports, etc. Finding an accountability buddy to do this with helps a lot.

I have found that having a sponsor and a network of people and making meetings in different places and meeting new people and having a side business keeps me so busy that I don’t have time to isolate. Am coming up on 22 years clean on the 23rd of this month having a program in your life works

I appreciate you. Ty for the advice. :purple_heart::raised_hands:t3:

I hear u. Unfortunately I have a huge responsibility as a single mother and he’s seen me sleep for 5 days straight. Getting used to seeing me in bed and not showering, taking care of myself, and not cooking or wanting to do anything. HE KNOWS THIS ISNT HIS MOM. He knows something is wrong and I can’t keep seeing his face knowing im SO MUCH BETTER THAN THIS. I cry everyday now. LISTEN I AM NOT A CRIER EVER. IM BROKEN. I am looking into treatment and doing it Asap. Some peoples rock bottoms are a lot worse but my sons face is what i look forward to in life and I can’t accept this for myself or him. HE KNOWS HIS MOM AND I CANT do this anymore and know it’s affecting him. This is my rock bottom. I sit inside and isolate. I sleep my life away so i can’t do things like that. I totally understand everything you’ve said and I appreciate everything. Thank you

My group therapist I been working with amazing. She is helping me everyday and I’m speaking with her tomorrow about treatment. TY. :purple_heart:

:raised_hands:t3::purple_heart::pray:t3:WOW! That’s truly amazing. I WILL GET THERE. I WILL NOT LET THIS CONTROL ME ANYMORE. I PROMISE. WHETHER it takes 1,2,10 times. There’s no way i will let it win anymore. :muscle:t3: Raised by all strong women and we don’t accept that S***. The world needs us!!! :joy::wink: Appreciate you.

It’s SO hard. Seems so simple but ITS SO REAL AND PUTS YOU IN SUCH A DARK HEAD SPACE. I’m at the point where I can’t sit at home and do this alone anymore. I have A TON of unresolved traumas and things IVE NEVER FELT PROPERLY. I AM TERRIFIED of feeling them and the way i’ve survived my ENTIRE LIFE IS BECOMING HARDENED and have that attitude where nothing could touch me. I LITERALLY would feel something weak for 2 seconds and ZOOOOM park in right in the back where it belonged. I NEED something i know i can’t give myself alone and it really makes me feel better knowing people can relate to all of this.. This platform and people like you have done so much for me. Thank you sm. :raised_hands:t3::purple_heart::pray:t3:

Ty. I’ve come to realize I need more intense help and I’m figuring that out this week and IM GETTING OUT of this miserable life i’ve dealt with for far too long. Time to feel all the feelings and put my big girl pants on. :woman_shrugging:t2::muscle:t3::purple_heart::raised_hands:t3:

You inspire me and give me so much hope, I’m going to fight this harder than i’ve fought anything my entire life. TY. :pray:t3:

Ugh. Unfortunately it’s not enough and my IDGAF attitude about anything in life right now will not let that happen. Isolation is my best friend and I’m getting treatment. I can’t do it alone anymore. My family makes me feel like SARAH is not OK TO NOT BE OK. I’m always the strong one everyone puts pressure on. That’s my current situation but I always figure life out and it’s not going to stop me. IM going to get to the top of this mountain of misery and be the MF-ING force to knock it TF down. :muscle:t3::purple_heart:

I’m realizing that and was supposed to be working a new job this week after losing my first job last year my entire life. I am choosing treatment over it all obviously because I can’t make it out alone or at all without doing this now. My son and my life is worth so much more and i’m not accepting this life anymore. PEOPLR LIKE YOU ARE MY SUPPORT AND YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH YOUR WORDS ARE APPRECIATED. (Well i’m sure you do) BUT… I CANT express how much all the love means to me. TY SM :raised_hands:t3::pray:t3::purple_heart:

:100: I need a lot more than that right now. I DO COMPLETELY AGREE that physical activity is super important and extremely therapeutic and natural mood booster FR. I was there once.. 4-5x /wk loyal gym member and very active. I lost my job and lost myself. I need therapy and just help with dealing with more of a emotional aspect of things. I’ve hardened myself my entire life to survive and i’ve never dealt with feelings properly. So as scary as it is, i’m aware and ready to conquer. THEN ILL BE GETTIN’ this :peach: right again :joy: Appreciate the :purple_heart:

Girl, the depression is SO overwhelming. I’ve suffered with it my entire life. Just never dealt with it in ANY healthy form. IM SCARED AS H*LL but ready to face the reality of it NOW. I have to. There’s a lot of pain behind these eyes, i just became a pro at hiding it all my life. 2 Years is major and ppl like you give me all the HOPE and inspire me sm. TY for letting me know i’m not alone and that i’ll have to work on it everyday. Regardless if i got 2 weeks or 2 years under my belt. Ty ! :raised_hands:t3::pray:t3:

It gets better…. Force yourself to go for a walk every day.

Unfortunately from everything I've read and experienced it is not as clear cut as 1 week.
There is the initial physical impact and depending on substance & use this time can vary.
Rebuilding the dopamine receptors in your brain takes work and time. "Simple" tasks go for a walk, change a thought by changing an action do work and they are free, but at the time don't always seem easy. For me they're was decades of use and now 8 months in sort of feeling emotional & mental stability.

Hey Sarah, how u feeling?? Now that your on the road of recovery, maybe you should look into getting a physical to get updated bloodwork and see if you have any vitamin deficiencies. Lack of certain nutrients and vitamins along with stopping whatever your DOC was can trigger depression and other mental illnesses to flair up. Being proactive will help take some of the sting off from withdrawals..If you ever need or want to chat, feel free to hit me up🙂 Have a blessed day!
