Slipped today after being told I have a brain tumor

Slipped today after being told I have a brain tumor and have to have my thyroid and gallbladder removed. Also got put on the same med that made my adopted mother awful to me while dying of brain cancer.... at a literal loss. My immune system is eating my organs and now this. Yay genetics.

Don’t give up. Between the 4th of February and today I have buried my father, been divorced by wife, been kicked out of my home, lost my job, and still have an open case from last year. I drank too. 3 day binge. And I woke up to everything still being there. There is a power deep inside of you and a purpose for your life. You have to find it and tap into it. I am thinking of you and praying for you. Health is meant to fade, but it doesn’t need our help. Get your surgery, try to stay sober and let your body heal. Then you take it from there.

I'm 27 and divorced someone 36 yes my elder while helping my autistic 8 yr old this year then married my high school sweetheart just to get diagnosed after I quit a 7 year crutch. I'm doing everything I can to care for a grandmother, mother in law, and sister in law with terminal conditions just have my husband diagnosed with the same thing they have. My ex tried tried to sue me out of custody after 7 yrs of screwing Co Ed's in pools in Florida with not a call or dollar to be had. I'm very sorry for your loss and I hope you and your family find peace, I'm just losing it. I'm not trying to lessen your loss, just on a tangent.

I don’t take it that way at all. Thank you for even sharing what you have. Life has a funny way of turning around. But we must put hope in the forefront. It’s been my experience that when I have multiple problems at once, I refuse to handle them all. Take it one issue at a time.

Jane, I hear you. You have a LOT on your shoulders right now. Please be gentle and kind to yourself. Do you have anyone that can help get anything off of your plate? Even just an hour of rest and self care may help. I’m so very sorry you are going through this.

Jane I hesitated to respond, because what do you say? Hang in there. It’s sounds like you are doing your best for the people who need you, what else can you do?
I care for just one terminally ill person, I can’t imagine your struggle.

I’m so sorry. I would slip too if I was in your shoes. Don’t beat yourself up too much, you’ve got a lot going on already.

Did the slip help? Probably not.

I’m so sorry this is all piling up on you. The only surefire way to make it worse is to drink and drug. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Hang in there, my friend!

I’m sorry. I can’t even begin to imagine. Please know you have people in this community who are here for you. :yellow_heart:

Jane, I was close to picking up after I was diagnosed with liver cancer. I was blessed by a phone call out of the blue that kept me from doing but I was so close so I can empathize. Please stay strong and fight on please. I’m praying for better days for you.:pray:t2::latin_cross::yin_yang:

It’s ok. The time to start is now. Don’t pick up and try and get to a meeting either in person or virtual. I’m 10 1/2 years sober and faced a lot of challenges. I slipped up at the beginning and went away to rehab 2X. I rebuilt my life and business. A year and 1/2 ago I found out unexpectedly that I had a serious health issue. I just finished some major surgery. It went very well and I thank God that there was treatment available, and I was sober as well. Picking up will only make things worse. You can get through these issues but it is most important to stay sober throughout. You can do it one day at a time:pray::sunny:

How terribly, grossly unfair. The universe can be cruel. I’m sorry.

Praying for your strength while you go through this difficult time.

I can’t even begin to imagine your struggle and can’t offer any words other than here for support or an ear. Please don’t take it out on yourself.

I will not even pretend to understand what you must be going through. Just know that you are not alone. So many people including myself are hurting right now for all different reasons. And every reason is valid for wanting to just say “f*** it” and to pick up that drink. And if you do, I wouldn’t blame or judge you. Life can be unbearable at times. It’s okay to want an escape. But, I can promise you the escape isn’t in that bottle. Escape is knowing that nothing bad ever lasts forever. The moments that are as painful as this are meant to shape you and help you to become a stronger, better version of yourself. Be kind to your body. Get some rest, try to stay positive (I know easier said than done). You WILL get through this. God never gives us anything we can’t handle. Stay strong and fight. You got this. We’re all here rooting you on!
