I appreciate your curiosity. I appreciate you care to some extent. A lick of advice from an alcoholic trying to settle into public outings around alcohol...don't ask at a table full of people. Not because I think people will ask about said personal reasons, and not because I don't want to share my story, but because I know some people don't want to hear it. It's a downer dude, it's gonna kill their vibe (which I understand). And I don't want the stigma of "being sober is depressing" to be what they get out of the conversation...because they WILL carry that with them. Anyway, 64 days down.
