So hard when all your emotions come back and flood

So hard when all your emotions come back and flood in at once, and just having to sit there with them and feel them.

But the thing about emotions is they usually won’t last that long. Like dark clouds in the sky. Hang tough Kelly B!

I’m right they are with you. I am two months and two weeks sober and it definitely comes in waves. I am just starting to realize there are so many things in my life I never grieved- I just numbed out with drugs and alcohol. Letting these feeling move thru is uncomfortable. Often painful. Feeling feelings instead of stuffing or numbing them is ultimately freeing though. I don’t ever want to be trapped, trying to get away from them again

You will be stronger for dealing with them. Hang in there. I went on a two week dry drunk after my 4/5 step because I had to feel all those emotions. After a bit I felt lighter. You will too! Reach out to someone if you need it, or reach out here… we got your back!

Thank you for the support and you’re absolutely right I’m 8 days clean today from a little set back and it’s been rough my body still physically hurts and it affects my mental but I definitely don’t want to return to where I was it’s just dark, I know there’s a light at the end of feeling things :purple_heart: I appreciate you sherry

I always find it's easier to sit and feel the emotions now than to push them away and have them come roaring back later, with a vengeance.

:blue_heart: It’s definitely not easy. But this is the longest I’ve made it without drinking or drugging in 29 years And I am clinging to it like a life raft. Deep inside I know that sobriety is my life raft if I can just hang on. You can too, Kelly! Hang on with me! 🫶🏼
