So here’s the thing! I’m filled with extreme emotion

So here’s the thing! I’m filled with extreme emotion right now! This weekend my family is coming to visit me! My parents, who I have not seen since Ive been sober for over 3 years. I lost them in my life before and now that I have them back it’s wonderful but holy shit the emotions are high! They and I have the absolute best relationship we have ever had in my life now and they are so happy for me. They are sooooo excited to come. But holy hell the emotions are crazy! I don’t know if I’m excited or scared or worried or thrilled or what. Just thought I’d share and get some insight. Thanks Guys!!!

Haha. It’s gotta be. It’s insane! It’s amazing! I used to hate feelings so much I drowned them out. Now im thinking “this is what I’ve been missing out on?!!!”:hugs:

Sounds perfectly normal to me Steve. I’d be anxious too! Enjoy their company! You have put in the work and deserve to have moments like this. Wishing you a great weekend with the folks :peace_symbol:

Sounds like you have an exciting weekend ahead of you. It’s definitely normal to have the anxiety, these are people who have seen you through your lows. Remember to pause if something uncomfortable comes up, but it sounds like it will be a great weekend connecting with them in person again. Wish you all the best!

Thank you, yes these are the moments that pay off! This is what the fight is for!!

They have been there through it all. And even when they told me they had to distance themselves because I was “killing them” they never stopped believing in me and loving me! I am beyond thrilled that all the loss I had has come back in spades!!

Thank you Lia! It’s strange. What seemed so impossible and never believable has been put in front of me. As to say “see what happens when you truly work at it and try?”. I am still shocked. But I would not change it for anything. It gives me the desire and courage to keep on F-ing going!!! And that is what truly gives me joy!! Make those amends. Make those tough steps. your higher power will never give you something you can’t handle at THAT moment! You got this!!!

I think that’s what shocks me. They know the new me that’s been in formation over the past 3 plus years. They went from not allowing me on there property to saying “we want to fly out to see you, we’re so excited”. And to top it off. My mom said “ I can’t wait for hugs!!!:hugs:”. This is some of the most raw and pure emotion I have ever felt. Damn life has given me another shot at living and i couldn’t be more grateful!!

Thank you! Yes. The breathing deeply helps. They reality checks of “hey Steve this is all normal and fine to feel this”. I am still getting used to my feelings being okay to have. Haha
