So I had a blip. Nothing too major but it

So I had a blip. Nothing too major but it made me realize I really do prefer being sober. Feeling a bit tired today, happy to keep going and definitely getting to a meeting. Definitely not perfect but making huge strides towards a life of sobriety!!!

Life is full of "blips". What matters is how you recover.

If it takes a blip to propel you forward, then so be it. Keep moving forward.

I had a break last week. Reached out. Made a few new great friends. Feeling better today. Added new tools to my toolbox. Reflecting on why?? Reach out if you need an accountability buddy. We can do this!

Keep coming back :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: it’s another experience to build your foundation and to help another . I’ve had lots of blips, no judgment . You got this :purple_heart:

Just add that realization to your Playlist for the next time you are tempted.

It was almost like a combo of mourning being able to go have a beer and a release of just giving in after a super challenging weekend… I have to think it over a bit

… but truth is that I feel so much happier without it, especially in the mornings. It’s the anxiety during my witching hour that kills me

Sometimes I wonder, just so you remember, if you’ve been sober over a year and you’re alone on a business trip bored have a couple few beers just to remind you it tastes like soap, feeling dehydrated sucks and your head feels like dookey

Great perspective

Blips happen. Now you know one more thing not to do.

It was so much easier to just continue along sober after that night, I have a really good string of sober days now (11 out of 12, which is HUGE)… I slept amazing last night too. If I can get through 4-7 pm I’m totally good.

Sounds like a great time to work out, go for a bike ride, hit a meeting, join a yoga or marshal arts class… so many other things to do.

4 - 7:00 pm is also my trigger. I am thinking part of mine is habit not addiction when it comes to that particular trigger.

I am stuck doing my chores at that time. Cooking, dishes, making the bed cause I don’t make it in the mornings. My chores always went easier with a drink in my hand. The problem was that I would not quit at a couple. I would drink an entire pint

Great job for reaching out!!! It’s just a lapse, you are thriving!!

Yeah, mine correlates with dinner/kid/chore time too, can’t take “me” time then, so maybe that’s why I drank. I’ve been trying to do an N/A beer or chai and just keeping my hands busy!

How are you doing today??

I am doing amazingly well for 4 days. Not back physically so much. But doing the work. I have made an amazing new friend that has helped me put so many new tools in my bag. Books, meetings, podcast. What I was doing repeatedly for years was definitely not working! Total 180 for me. How are you?
