So I just wanna know. . . Who finds smoking

I don’t consume as much as I used to but I still do to help out with cravings sometimes.

Great job, dude! Throughout rehab I planned on still smoking weed. I actually preferred that to drinking but whiskey was easier to get. But I didn’t. I don’t see anything wrong with it, I just chose not to smoke anymore.

Weed and alcohol are the same thing - an escape from reality. If you still smoke dope, eat gummies or brownies; you are playing with fire. And you definitely aren’t sober.

Through my 4 years of sobriety, my viewpoint has changed on this weed was never my drug of choice. mine was alcohol if it helps you stay off the harder drugs it’s a stepping stone in the right direction.

Go by your own definition of sobriety, not what other people dictate for you! That’s my motto

I speak only for myself. I chose to be sober. I restarted my day count when I decided for myself to give up weed. I’m an alcoholic so I can justify anything in my head. I’m a vessel for my HP, and my Hp can’t use me if I’m stoned all day. The reality is that I smoked to escape. I was lying to myself by saying it was for sleep and appetite. I was smoking to get high. I had to be honest with myself and honest with my sponsor. No shame to anyone who uses. This was about me. I came to this earth to experience life; sad, lonely, mad, love, and joy. If I’m high all the time I can’t experience all the emotions. :v::heart:

"Marijuana Maintenance" has been around a long time. If it's a positive in your life and wasn't part of what was ruining your life. I say ok. As long as it's used as a medicine of sort and not to get bombed out loaded every night. I'd kinda of get a comfortable dose pinned down and stick with that. Maybe on special occasions go a little deeper. I was Cali sober for a while but I ended up relapsing and now I'm in sober living so I'll cross that bridge again someday, but not now.

For some marijuana can be a problem just like alcohol can be. I say exercise caution as with any mind altering substances it can effect some people's recovery efforts. I've already proven to myself I have a drinking problem and choose not to use marijuana as it my effect my willpower to stay away from alcohol. To each their own. I hope you reach your goals.

I personally don't see it as a problem. It depends on your motives for smoking. I smoke weed to escape, to numb out avoid reality. The same reasons I use the hard stuff. So my choice is abstinence for me only. Everyone has the right to choose for themselves. Do what's best for you n don't worry about others opinion. It's your program to work not theirs.

It is not a part of my program of recovery. For me, being present and practicing the principles in all my affairs requires me to abstain from all mind altering chemicals

To each their own. Doesn’t work with my sobriety, but everyone has their own path.

If we are honest with ourselves, we will admit that the reason we want to get high in the first place is because we don't feel comfortable in ourselves, completely clean and sober.

When we are free from the influence of any alcohol or mind altering drug we actually start to feel again. Let's face it, feeling doesn't feel good in the beginning and we will try anything to suppress those feelings.

We have a question in Alcoholics Anonymous that asks.... What do you get when you get a horse sleep sober?
A sober horse thief.

Drinking and/or drugging was but a symptom of our problem. We have to get down to causes and conditions.

Putting the cap on the bottle and throwing the drugs in the trash is only step one. This is only the beginning of our recovery and sometimes it's not going to feel good. We didn't get this way overnight and so we're not going to get better overnight.

I've heard it said that it's 10 miles Into the woods and 10 miles back out.

It's going to take some time and it's going to take some effort. But I promise you that it's well worth it and far more rewarding than anything you can get from putting any drugs or alcohol into your body.

Sobriety(free of anything mind altering) opens up many doors to a brighter and more productive future.

Also: I'm a Private Pilot and a commercial truck driver. There's a reason why I have to take a drug screen from time to time. They don't want people operating in the air or on the interstate that have drugs in their system because tests prove that they are not clear thinkers.

Glad to be clean and sober.

If that helps, by all means! Years ago my mother and brother and I grew weed for our grandmother to ease her pain when it was illegal. We didn’t care. Family first. Look out for #1. You!

So I guess, to me, the real question is whether marijuana maintenance is considered sobriety or harm reduction.

Thanks Cherise. I’ve always said anything I have done or do is/was “ok” as long as it didn’t/doesn’t make my life unmanageable. As soon as my actions or conduct makes my daily life or the lives of my loved ones lunmanageable then its time for me to address what to do next- quit or cut back etc. So great you are reaching out to get input.

I don't know why people vilify it it's legal in half the country. Every part of that plant is beneficial. I get it's not for everyone but I a million percent support it.

If your program works for you, work your program. If it keeps you away from your DOC, go for it.
