So I just wanna know. . . Who finds smoking weed in sobriety acceptable and who doesn’t? Personally. I stay stoned. as long as I stay far tf away from fentanyl and meth I’m good. My therapist even agreed and supports it for my mental issues. So just curious other people in recovery’s opinions and thoughts ? And no arguments please I literally wanna know y’all opinions
by the way proudly would like to say I’ve been off hard drugs for 2 weeks now!
Congratulations to you on 2 weeks!! And yes I’m right there with you I smoke everyday. It’s medicine for me. My weed smoking doesn’t trigger things like alcohol does. As long as I stay away from alcohol I’m good. Good luck on your journey you can do this!!
Thank you
I appreciate the input. I do too as it is medicine for me too. It triggers nothing for me actually keeps me away from the hard stuff. Was never even my first drug opiates were. For
Me weed saves me tbh
Congratulations on your two weeks!! Keep it going!
I have heard debates on this several times before, people mad at those who smoke still saying "well it doesn't count cause you still have a chemical dependency" or "you're not really being sober" or "that's not fair"
I personally do not smoke weed, it's just not for me. The way I see it though is, we each are responsible for our own recovery and that's it. I would never tell someone else how to live their recovery and would not expect for someone to tell me how to live mine. We can give and choose to listen to advice or choose not to. You do what is working best for you!! Proud of you for your two weeks! If someone else does have an issue with how YOU are living YOUR recovery, remember everyone's journey is unique to them, and to stay on our paths, we have to put our recovery first. I would say just be careful, know yourself, and watch the smoking and driving as that puts yourself and others at risk.
To each their own is my motto. I can’t smoke it. Would be off to the races.
To some weed is a trigger or gate way.To me it makes me sleep. I don’t enjoy it and it doesn’t make me want to drink or do hard drugs either. I say why not? People take man made drugs to stay off booze.
Cannabinoids support your Endocannabinoid System (discovered in 1989, an extremely important system of the body responsible for homeostasis). Cannabis is an incredibly healing plant but has been suppressed by pharma and textile industries since the 30s.
Congrats one 2 weeks! That’s awesome. I personally feel everyone’s recovery process is unique and you have to find what works for YOU. So if smoking weed keeps you off the hard stuff, then so be it.
Medicine is helpful but still could be harmful if used to escape reality.there is a fine line between medicine helping you cope with things or creating other addictions. what helps you to achieve your goals in a healthy way is great.only you know the difference.
It has healing properties, my doctor has actually suggested I look into certain strains to help with my mental health issues.
Glad it's helping you. At the moment, I take Ashwagandha gummies and it helps me relax and sleep.
As a past 24/7/365 weed smoker, it’s not acceptable for me in my recovery. As for others, I really don’t know. As for it being acceptable for others… yeah if it’s working for you.
Here comes my TL;DR comment
…
I take edibles several times a week and it makes me not want alcohol whatsoever (which is amazing). If it did, I’d cut it out immediately. It’s personally helped me cope with the initial stages of going to friends’ parties, concerts, sports events, dinners, etc. and not have any alcohol cravings at all. I’ve now started going to these same events without taking anything. It’s really help guide me through the initial reintroduction to normal life.
My personal and very unqualified advice is to begin training your brain to at least be able to get through 1 day, then 2 days, etc. at a time without smoking so that you aren’t fully emotionally dependent on it - especially in the event where you won’t have access to it and the nerves strike. I’ve been purposefully doing this over the past several months to make sure I am not emotionally dependent on anything except my own mind when I don’t have a “security blanket” available.
If you are still a productive, healthy person when you smoke and you don’t fall apart when you don’t have it on you, I say have at it.
I’d say as long as you aren’t driving, work, or parenting. Basically if you’re home with no real responsibilities. Then for awhile I don’t see a problem with it. In time it’d be nice to be clean across the board though.
Acceptable. Weed doesn’t destroy my life.
Just make sure the person you buy it from isn’t a scumbag or the safest way is to get it from a doctor or grow your own
You’ll never get consensus on the pot issue, but l since you ask, I think it’s fine AS LONG AS YOU ARE NOT ADDICTED to it. This is just my opinion. I speak for no one else or for NA or AA. Addiction rates for pot are about same for alcohol—around 7% of users. Anyway, hope you have a great New Year’s.
I still smoke MJ, and am on MAT. I think it is acceptable but I'm not a 12-stepper so I guess it depends on the program that works best for you! Some people can, some people can't.
I’ve struggled with addiction to weed, and I think getting off of it eventually is worthwhile, but if that’s what it takes to stay off of meth and fentanyl? Spark it up.
Yes. All about how it’s used. Still, it you’re swapping a pot addiction for a meth/fentanyl addiction, do it. All day, everyday.
Yes, I love my Ashwaganda gummies for stress and sleep!
