Hey Chris. It sounds like you have an overwhelming amount of stuff on your plate. I’m sorry that it hasn’t been easy. Feel free to message me anytime if you need to talk.

One minute one hour one day at a time

One second at a time. Reach out. I have an entire sobriety network. Couldn’t do it without them.

Don’t beat yourself up

Keep trying! Don't give up, don't stop looking for the way
that keeps you sober. 50 years of not giving up and today I have 45 days clean and sober! You can do this!

You said you just don't know how to deal with the stress. Well let me ask you this, did picking up a drink make things better?

You said you're back at day one so I assume it didn't. Next time you have a desire to pick up a drink you need to play the scene all the way forward. You need to think about what you're feeling right now and all the more guilt you're going to have to carry around if you pick up again. It's called believing the LIE. That this time, everything will be okay. But it never is, is it?

Relapse doesn't begin when we pick up the drink. It starts long before that. You need to think about what you were doing before you picked up that drink. What have you been doing for the time that you were sober? Were you going to meetings? Did you use the phone? Do you have a sponsor? Were you getting into the 12 steps?

Everybody has stress in their life. But no matter how bad we are feeling it's never bad enough to pick up a drink because it always makes it worse. I have a whole lifetime of relapsing before I truly got sober.

Think about what you're going to do differently this time. If you simply don't drink, go to meetings and do what is suggested, the quality of life really does get better one day at a time. It takes time to feel quality sobriety.

I've heard it said that it's 10 mi into the woods and 10 miles back out. We didn't get this way overnight and we're not going to get better overnight.

My suggestion is that you start getting to more meetings and just sit down and listen to what everyone else says. Just my suggestion. Glad you made it back.
