I was there not to long ago. Thinking how am I gonna get through this. One minute, one second at a time. Here I am day 30. Keep your mind busy. Distractions!

What you are going through right now, is temporary. Day 7 is better, day 30 is even better and day 90….well you get the idea. If you want to drink, think it through, what does that look like? You already know because you’ve done it over and over. Now, what will your life look like if you don’t? It’s so much better, take it from me. I’ve been where you are, you are killing it!

My motto is “when you’re tired of your own bullshit, you’ll stop”. It got me through. :yellow_heart::yellow_heart:

That’s very much appreciated, I’m doing things differently this time. Going to meetings and staying around sober addicts with a year or more. Idk if life has always been this stressful and I just didn’t notice cause of drugs and alcohol or if I’m being attacked because I’m trying to do the right thing, but yes one day at a time. And I still struggle with future tripping.

Awww you are not being attacked. Your mind is clear and able to process all that life has to offer now, it’s heavy and it’s hard and that’s ok. Give yourself grace and space, to grieve, to process, to FEEL! It hurts at first and then it gets beautiful💛

You’re stronger than u think u are. Take things one minute at a time and don’t focus too much on the future. If u make good decisions in the present, the future will take care of itself. If the stress becomes too much, take a walk, pray, breathe, ask for a hug, grab a cup of coffee, pet ur dog. Just take yourself out of the urge with a positive distraction. I’m only 54 days sober but that’s the advice that’s helping me. You CAN do it.

A lot of us use the feelings you’ve been having this week as the reminder of why we can’t drink, no matter how appealing the idea seems.

“A drink would be nice” is followed by violent memories of vomit and diarrhea. Chills. Shakes. Sweating through my sheets. Insomnia. Convulsions. Pure unbridled misery.

I am an alcoholic. If I drink, I don’t stop. If I relapse I lose everything again. So I cherish the memories of how you felt this week. Those memories keep me safe.

You said it, I’m getting hit with so much B.S. right now I struggle to even face the day. I have nothing but respect for all of you, this is tough. My first thought is to numb my mind, but I know regardless of how messed up things are, drugs and alcohol are guaranteed to make them worse…

Brandon. I am with my family currently. Love ‘em while yes, triggers in my face. Literally. Daily! I am doubling up this time around and also doing things differently, primarily by adding to my sober toolbox and support systems. Lots of great insights, suggestions here. Well. One thing my own mother reminds me of is that ( thankfully ) everything truly is temporary and that hope and gratitude are key. Wish you well. I m on Day 10 and this time, I don’t want to relapse so it is literal minute by minute for me. Sometimes “ even “ one , two hours feel too overwhelming to think about. Keep going.
