So I've been sober from alcohol for almost a year

So I've been sober from alcohol for almost a year. Now I'm trying to get off meth. I haven't used heavily or anything. I eat everyday and sleep every night. Anyway its not a big deal to me to not use.

My ex husband and my parents we're planning out an intervention, so obviously I was worse off then I realized, but thankfully I came to them and confessed that I needed help. My parents keep asking questions and talking about my current boyfriend saying things like he's probably trying to turn me into a meth wh***.

It's hard because I kinda see where they're coming from. Part of me thinks the world of him. Another hates him. I've told him multiple times that I no longer want to use but he makes sure I know it's there. He's never said, no you don't need this. He's never helped me get sober.

That's all I've got for now. I have nowhere else to post this, but needed to get it all off my chest.

Hi Brittany, I can see that tottering as you weigh the options and requirements for those options. What I can say for myself is that sobriety has given me a life that I am absolutely pumped for. Anything that tries to get in the way of my sobriety will get pushed aside. You’re a a split in the road, one direction leads to sobriety, and one leads to continued use. It seems like you have a solid support system, so if you choose sobriety then hopefully they will continue to support you. Only you can make this decision, but know I am rooting for you. Sobriety is the greatest gift of my life.

Yeah, no - he’s gotta go. Only if you want to get clean….
Meth is a B to quit - the emotional thing with the dopamine depletion. Sounds like you have family support, which will be handy for the first week or two. But a still using bf is just an anchor for your recovery. I had to get selfish and put up barriers - anyone that I had ever used with was out of my life; phone number blocked and deleted. Worked well. I made the decision that I’d rather be temporarily lonely then not be clean and sober. Good luck!

Hey Brittany! You know what you gotta do. You know what’s right. If you stop running for a bit and just sit with it, you will know what you need to do. I know it’s not easy. I know using takes the pain away, but I also know that the pain comes back. The only way to get rid of the pain is to either keep using and erode away, or stop using and face the pain face to face. I don’t know anyone who has faced the pain and recovered that would ever want to go back to using. Pray for the strength to do the right thing :peace_symbol:
