SO LOST. Any connections or advice would be so appreciated ๐Ÿ˜”

I am 12 days in and feel completely lost. All of my friends drink, and every weekend is just another temptation. I need to make sober friends/companions to help me get through thisโ€ฆ and I would also like to help others because I know how shitty this is at the start. I do believe just talking to somebody might help me not feel so alone. How have you all gotten through some of the toughest day of sobriety- particularly early on?

Early on?

Iโ€™ve been through unimaginable withdrawals where I literally thought I was going to throw my bowels out of my throat.

It is a noble thing that you are asking for.

Any ideas? I think most of the men on this app are simply seeking a vulnerable piece of ***If this is not you and you truly want to make an impact like myself then where do we go from here?

I tried to say *** but it kept on censoring me.

Funny how the government wants to teach our children gay and lesbian ยฅ*** but we canโ€™t publish the word ***!

Censorship at its finest! Try to type the word a** and see where it goes! Then say โ€œteach kids how to be gay or lesbianโ€. See which is censored.

See that works! Letโ€™s emasculate the entire population!

The advise I got from my sponsor was donโ€™t be where you donโ€™t need to be. Have an escape wherever you go. I didnโ€™t give up all my friends, but early on in sobriety they understood I may just ghost if I was feeling triggered. Sometimes I just walked away for a hour, and called my sponsor, sometimes it was all night. It does get easier and true friends will be supportive, and understanding. Now I can be around them all night. The urges are not there and I have learned how to deal with cravings. Stay the course man. I have found my friendships have become much more meaningful. Good luck bud.

Slept a lot at first a lot of isolation. Then when I did go out went to completely new job new people so I was so concentrated on the new stuff that it kept my mind busy.

I found it really hard the first 30 days. I kept to myself-watched a lot of tv. Read the book The Untethered Soul. Recommended on this app. A lot of people find new friends at meetings. Congrats on your new life!!

Thereโ€™s a great app called Phoenix that connects people through sober activities in your area, maybe you could branch out and find some new folks to hang out with, rethink how you plan your weekends

Lonliness like no other, its a constant companion this lonly feeling that addiction brings on us, it also causes us to take on less than satisfactory companions, Its just part of the disease we have, GOD is the answer, and a hard pill for those that want to feel connected right now, bless you and may GOD be with you...Tom

How far are you from Bellevue? Weโ€™ll be there camping this weekend. My friend has 10 years of sobriety.
Make new friends. Heck, see if your friends want to get sober. Worth a shot. Their answers might surprise you. Maybe not. Lol Go to a meeting instead of going to the bar. It sucks at first but youโ€™ll feel a heck of a lot better afterwards. And the next morning you wonโ€™t have a hangover. Reach out! We are all here for a reason and that reason is to get and stay sober.

I started volunteering. Just a couple days a week. It got me out, gave me purpose, and I have met a lot of great people. I started with a place called Recovery Cafe then was introduced to other volunteer opportunities in my area. Sometimes I have to force myself to go but I mostly look forward to those days. If you do decide to try it out do it on your own terms and enjoy it. :t_rex:
