Break ups are hard no matter what the case is. I just went through one before this summer and I wasnāt expecting it, but still sober and enjoying life.
Keep your head up.
Your sobriety is whatās more important right nowā¦.. but hey who knows down the line ā¦. People do end up back together and time line doesnāt matter
It hurts, but it just drives home the message that we can lose everything to addiction. Staying strong in recovery is our best chance to come back from it and establish something even better that will last.
I'm sorry that you're missing him. Recovery is still a priceless gift!
I got crushed in may of 2021. I was caught off guard. I was so hurt. I was resentful yet desperately trying to win her back. And I went through an entire cycle of grieving. It was so hard because being sober meant feeling all the feelings. Ugh.
But eventually, what I came to understand, is that I am grateful for the time we did have. Many positive and beautiful changes happened to me as a result of our relationship. Not all relationships are going to last forever. Thereās no such thing as perfection. Every experience is an opportunity for growth. And love finds us where we are when we least expect it, and it lifts us up and brings us some joy.
I agree. I learned a lot of lessons by being with him. Our break up is what led to my sobriety. So for that Iām grateful. Iām excited to find out what a relationship is like when Iām sober and making good decisions.
I'm kind of in an opposite situation. I have been making strides towards sobriety and even though I recently had a 'relapse' I had a sober chunk of time before that and have been feeling really good for a while. The girl I was seeing was trying with me too initially. We had a sort of a shared perspective and goal. But then she just started using again and hiding it from me. When I found out I was only supportive but simultaneously I did address the direction I thought 'we' were going. So I kept on and she kept using and hiding. Now, she is basically blocking me and turning me off without any explanation. Just straight ignoring me. I only want to support her and help her but she is done. I am so hurt right now. That's what I get for trying to stay sober and for attempting to help someone else I cared about. I just want the pain and obsessive thinking about her to stop. It will but I just need more time.
The relationship served a purpose. It fulfilled that purpose. He happy that it lead to your sobriety.
Lots of fish in the sea for a pretty sober woman

I moved to a desolate area because I am not happy with all the personalities of a huge city, thatās where I found her and can attest to some how it stings and cycles of grieving I feel it difficult to stay sober everyday when I have physical pain and emotionally estranged from family. Especially when the person was always asking and saying donāt you want to be with someone nicer. I guess what they were saying is beautify is skin deep but Iāve heard ugly is to the bone
You are very welcome just remember one day at a time it's working for me let it work for you
I hope ur doing well today Alanna remember continue to keep your head up blessings are on its way
