So my ex broke up with me last November due to my alcohol abuse. I have also been sober since then which is a blessing. But he has already moved on, has a new girlfriend who he really likes, and I just saw a pic of them together at a wedding I was supposed to go with him to. This really stings. I’m glad he’s happy, but I really regret losing him.
There is a time and a place for new for you
Thanks!
Hang in there and don’t use no matter what.
Hey girl. I feel this so hard. I just got broken up with a week ago due to my alcohol abuse (I’ve also been sober since the last time) and it hurts so bad. I know I’m not where you’re at yet, but I’m on the same track. I know I’ll have to deal with that one day too. I’m here for ya
I’m so sorry this happened to you. I know it’s raw now and hurts so much. But it gets sooo much better with time. Just stay sober and begin healing yourself mind, body, and soul. These hiccups in the road are unfortunately, even though I’ve been sober for 10 months now, just the fallout we have to deal with because of our addiction story. Hold on, pray, and stay sober sunshine
You are filled with such kind words. It’s inspiring to see your 10 months! I’m confident there’s happiness and true love waiting out there for both of us
Yes. Let’s heal our hearts and prepare for all the happiness God has in store for us! We deserve it!
I also feel like I ruined one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. But I will not live in despair because of this. I’m slowly healing myself and evolving into the person I should have been all along. Stay strong, have hope, and make a conscious decision to be positive. You can get through this. You’re stronger than you think!
nothing in gods world happens by mistake. i truly believe better things are coming your way. i know how hard this can be, ive been there myself.
Thanks for the hopeful words.
Amor Fati. Sorry you’re having this suffering. This may be a good time to have new found respect for the demons that led you to drink beyond your well being. Keep the positive outcomes going Alana!
It’s natural that you’d feel pain seeing a former partner w another. In order to love one exposes vulnerability. That’s just part of it. You’ll heal (you said it yourself). It takes time which you’ve also come to terms w. When the time comes, and it will, you’ll attempt to build something special. By then you’ll have grown, and will use this experience to enter a new relationship w more self awareness and confidence.
I admire you enduring your suffering and being brave enough to have another go at it when the time is right for you.
I ruined plenty of relationships because of my drinking. I don’t regret doing so because I’m stronger because of it and that simply wasn’t my path.
Work a strong program. Good things will follow.
I totally understand. I moved out June 2021 because of my alcohol abuse. We tried in September 2021 only for him to meet his current GF in October 2021. Was with him for 4 years and we were engaged. I definitely lost a good person because of this disease but all I have now is to focus on myself and get healthy. 2022 has been a long year of trying different rehabs and detoxes, but I’m finally sober for a continuous 40 days, 34 of those have been while being outside of treatment. I’m grateful for this new found willpower. If we are meant to be, maybe our paths will cross again but at this point, I’m just taking it as a lesson learned.
"Already moved on"? I mean, it's almost been a full year. It didn't work out. Move on too. Do better too. That's all any of us can do. Learn from our mistakes, hopefully. Please don't sit around waiting for god or whatever to fix things for you. It's your life. Grab the wheel and do the best you can. Put in hard work, and get healthy. It seems so elusive, but with some hard work we can all be happy. Some of us sooner than others, everyone's circumstances are different. Don't let your happiness rely someone else. I did this for a long time. It's called codependency and nothing is less attractive than codependency. Move on, be excited for a new chapter!
I haven’t had a significant other since 2012. My ex left me for a man that was as old as I am now, and she was 20. It still stings. I haven’t met anyone else since then, and I’ve come to believe that women just hate me.
I know where you’re coming from, and it hurts. I don’t have much advice, but you’re a pretty woman so life will work out for you. Just look at these comments, already filled with support. No such thing for most men.
The fact that you are happy for him says a lot about your character! Love yourself and look forward to seeing the blessings that's in front of you? You got sober and you got stronger. That guy is a fool! No joke I admire you!
I’m so sorry that happened to you. Try to have a more positive outlook on your situation. I don’t believe you were meant to be with your ex. There is someone out there made just for you. Before my ex, I hadn’t had a boyfriend for like 10 years. So I know it’s hard. But try to put out positive energy, and I’m sure you’ll find your person.
"nothing in gods world happens by mistake"?
This sounds like crazy talk.
You’re sober now . You have much to offer. Don’t look back at the waves your boat has made. Look forward to the direction you’re going now.
