So my wife and I pre qualified for a loan and are going to start looking to buy a house , nervous & exciting times …. My wife asked me last night what’s the plan if I go back to drinking in the future and she has no choice to divorce me because she has to do what’s best for her and our daughter … even though I understand where she is coming from , in a way i took it like a gut punch because here I am feeling great and sober and I feel like in my wife’s head she’s just waiting for me to relapse again …

You said relapsed “again” so I am guessing this isn’t your first go around with sobriety. Take a step back and look at it from her perspective. She has gotten used to disappointment, and not knowing what’s going to happen next week or in a few months. Buying a home is a huge thing man congrats! All you can do is the next right thing. My wife was very apprehensive when I first got sober. She said things like that to me as well… I had to just let it go, and keep moving forward. Stay on the path and working whatever program you are in.

I totally get where she is coming from , I’ve relapsed a few times , so I get her being cautious and I’m sure nervous so I’m definitely going to let it go and keep taking it 1 day at a time and work my program
