So question

I did the AA steps and it’s a somewhat quick process. A few people have noticed not much change. I’m thinking of switching gears and doing NA step work. Seems to be a much more thorough process. Just looking for opinions or if someone has done both

I prefer NA. More raw. Yet, AA is good also. Depends on your background I suppose. I was pretty hard core and needed the kick my @ss treatment. Steps are steps tho. Really doesn’t matter which program you use to work them. Both have the same ending, a higher power waiting with his/hers/it’s arms out.

My AA step work (with my sponsor) was a long process. I wasn’t a first time winner so steps 1-3 took me some time. What I found extremely helpful was my sponsor - he called me out on my BS and really pushed me to inventory myself and admit to all the damage I committed. It was freeing being honest with myself, another human being, and my higher power. Not going to lie, It’s an emotional process, for me at least, and I took the position that if I drank and drugged for decades it would take me months to dig deep into myself for real change.

My sponsor went pretty quick. I heard na is just a longer process

I think I need more raw

I am almost a year in and just starting step 6. My sponsor made sure to work the steps very in depth. Not sure if NA is too much different but just working the steps alone isn’t going to show “change” time and completely living the steps does. Hope you find what you need man!

I’m willing to try whatever I can. I have 6 months but I can feel myself stalling

The steps are like peeling the layers of an onion. The more you peel off,the closer you get to the core. My sponsor went through the steps with me pretty quick because she just wanted me to get an understanding of them. The next time through the steps,I had more sober time in and understood myself morw and also got a better understanding of myself and what the steps were really doing for me. There's no finish line or time limit, be patient with yourself

I went through them quick to but I wanna do them again and slow way down

Hopefully your sponsor understands and if not,you can always get another one

The fact that you feel that, you acknowledge it and want to do something about it is a sign you want it. You got this. Progress not perfection my friend.

Thanks bro.

Your right. If he doesn’t there is no shortage of sponsors
