I just was looking back on this and it's been five months still haven't gotten a full week sober every time I get close I think to much about how I hate my life and do nuthing about it but drink having nobody really hurts a lot

Friend, it ends when you accept complete defeat and set it down for good. It ends when you put aside your own self and reach out for help. It ends when you put in the work it takes to change your thinking, behaviors and actions. I’m three years sober and was in a cycle exactly like you are now for the last three years of misery. One day I said I’m defeated and surrendered. The next day I joined a 12 step sobriety group, put down the drink and began working on myself to change my entire life. I’m still a very active program member and I live a great life full of great friends and relationships. You are worth happiness and heath.

Same. Hit my rock bottom hard . Next day went to an AA meeting and accepted I was powerless over alcohol

I appreciate your words it means a lot to me I'm so worried about losing my job and my truck if I was to get help I still gotta pay bills to survive my ex is pregnant and is due in February and claims it's mine and I'm freaked cause I'm 36 and she is not someone that I wanted to have one with anyway but that's just the beginning

Well you don’t necessarily have to go to rehab .. maybe an outpatient or at least get into meetings and get a good support group

Depending on the amount and length of drinking you might want to at least look into detox to get you through the first few days of withdrawals and the counselors there can point you in the right direction

I didn’t but I worked the AA program as if my life depended on it. It did!!

Same. I didn’t go to detox or rehab but i through myself into AA

Look up local services around you . AA meetings, detoxes, rehabs.. anywhere you can get resources

I really would suggest to find an AA meeting. There will be people there that will give you some suggestions on direction. Alcohol detox can be deadly so like Tracy said to possibly do detox. I detoxed myself at home. Horribly not fun but it’s a short period of time( bout 8 days) I sweated and was stomach sick and had light tremors, I have had people I’ve helped that were in need of medical treatment and detox was smooth for them and effective. You can do this, I say if I can so can you.

Hey Sean: Glad you're here. When does it end? For me, it ended when I surrendered to the program of Narcotics Anonymous. Every day I look at my hands and say to myself "don't mess with that." It works.

Sean everything that’s been shared already is EXACTLY what worked for me. The hardest part is admitting you can’t do it alone but the sooner you do that wholeheartedly and get it all out of your system safely and start doing the work, your life will change.
