So when does it get better?

So when does it get better?

It's probably different for everyone and depends on your version of "better". You have to start appreciating the smaller things now instead of waiting for giant "miracles", I think. That's what I have been trying to do.

When you let it. “Better” is a mindset in my opinion. As long as you don’t pick up, you are not a d!ck, and appreciate the little things your mindset can change. We all have bad days and good days, that’s normal. There isn’t a burning bush or smack on the face here it is moment, it’s the little bits strung together to make a new chain. Keep reaching out, going to whatever program you have and you will soon start to notice the changes.

I haven’t found a program yet.

Go to meetings, man. They are everywhere. It will help you.

I would advise you do. For me AA works. Try one or try them all. We are all different in what we vibe with. The fellowship and accountability I found is what I needed. Good luck man truly. I hope you get what you need.

Keep putting one foot in front of the other. Get to some meetings. You can find zoom meetings online, too, at every hour of the day and night. Reach out to your sober community, even if it’s here. If you’re feeling jittery and anxious, go for a long walk or hike or whichever kind of exercise you fancy, before bed do some breathing exercises, meditation, whatever floats your boat there. You can do it, friend. Sending hugs.

Slowly. 60 days was okay. Six months was better. 1 year was good. 2 years great. 3 years redefined great.

I struggled for a few weeks. Couldn’t stop thinking about it. But something happened after 3 weeks. 3 full weekends. I stopped thinking about it nearly as much. Just found other better ways to fill that void. That timing is probably different for everyone though.

Better kind of sneaks up on us. One day we look in the mirror and don't recognize the person looking back, but we like what we see. We don't know when we became that person but we did.

I’m not from here. Walking is crazy. There’s no trees anywhere. I miss forests and the whole thing feels like a fever dream. I just moved last month

Other people weren’t. I think I was

Can’t do it alone

I am 4 months in and am starting to feel some results. Yesterdays 24 hr reading said to focus on the small changes. This hit true to me as I was always looking for the "big" ah ha or epiphany. I am noticing the small changes now!

Prioritize getting a sponsor and work the steps.

If I survive another 2 weeks I will have 8 years sober. Not possible if I had not got involved in the fellowship.

Happens to me when I work a program. But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. I just have some moments of peace and that makes it better.

One day at a time

One month did me some good and made me want to keep going.

A month for me, and the thoughts of stopping at a liquor store vanished. But every recovering alcoholic has good and bad days. Sleep problems are normal. Feeling restless is normal. For me calling a AA friend and going to a mtg. Helps. There is no magic bullet to make it easier. Just keep on trying!

Dude, I just kept my chair, got a sponsor and worked the steps, gave myself time to heal in a sober living house. I slowed down and listened which is not a thing I've EVER done. I found myself not getting agitated and depressed as much. We only have today.
