So why is gratitude so important? I think it’s worth a discussion on here considering it’s a daily list request that many of you participate in. For myself I absolutely hated gratitude meetings at the beginning of my recovery. I was living in a pity party of poor me if you only knew. Thankfully I think very differently about it today. Any thoughts appreciated. TY
Making a list of what you’re grateful for forces you to think in a positive manner. Helps you to focus on the good in your life. It points your thinking in a helpful and positive manner. At least that my take on it.
I always try to stay humble, kind and grateful. Just makes life so much better daily
It sure does
Why do you believe it’s important?
I’m grateful to be able to be grateful. It’s a different perspective and mind set to when I used to take everything for granted. When I used to not care. Being able to be grateful for the things I’m given and accomplished today provides motivation and humility. It allows me to give thanks and be respectful.
It’s positive thinking and a reminder.
It charges your mindset from focusing on the negative. It also helps to practice acceptance. It took me awhile to stay in the day and just try to do my best each day. I’m ok with that today. I would say those things practiced especially gratitude become more habit or at least much easier to do. They lead to peace and serenity. That sounds like a big promise but I prefer peace and serenity over drama and calamity today. I rarely ever have a desire to drink to relieve stress and anxiety. I was stuck in constant stress and anxiety at the end of my drinking career.
