Has anyone heard of the Sinclair method?

Try the Bill.W and doctor Bob method it has 88 yrs of proven success.

Strength , willpower, motivation and determination are the only medications necessary.
However if the Sinclair method works for you remember that you take a perscribed pill 1 hr before a premeditated date with alcohol. The medication is designed to block the effects of alcohol on the brain. In my opinion it would only be a matter of time before one would stop taking the pill in order to feel those blocked affects.
Don't drink and go to meetings.. its a simple program for complicated people. There is more strength in the rooms of AA then in a pill to take before drinking. I can promise you that , it has been proven for almost 100 yrs.

AA or other recovery. Control drinking doesn’t work.

It's what I used to quit. It took 7 months to reach extinction, and I've been sober for a little over 8 months now. I spent three years trying to quit/control my drinking before starting the Sinclair Method, and for me it's the only thing that's worked for more than a few days.

In the past the cravings would always build up until they were impossible to ignore and I would relapse. For me relapse was unavoidable. With the Sinclair Method the cravings slowly decreased along with my drinking until I was only drinking a couple drinks twice a month. Then once the cravings were gone and I reached extinction, I quit drinking for good. I could still drink if I wanted, and many people do, but with Naltrexone blocking the addictive euphoria, all you're left with is the intoxication. Which just makes me feel horrible and reminds me how much drinking has ruined my health.

If you're already 25 days sober, it may or may not be the best option for you. In a study done in Finland it was only 78% successful at helping people quit or moderate their drinking, and it usually takes people 6-12 months of drinking on naltrexone for them to reach extinction. Also only 26% of people ended up choosing to quit drinking completely, which is much higher than the 6% whose goal was to quit starting out, but lower than the 52% who chose to moderate instead. Also for 22% of people it didn't work at all, with 11% choosing to quit taking naltrexone, and the other 11% continuing to take Naltrexone but still weren't able to moderate or quit.

25 days is super impressive and much longer than I ever got without the Sinclair Method, and so if what you're doing is working for you then I'd stick with it. If you're like me though and constantly relapse and have no control over if and when you relapse, but can anticipate it far enough in advance to take Naltrexone 1-2 hours before drinking then it's probably worth considering.

I've not. I did recently check out Allen Carr's method, and it is working wonders for me.
