I just read the article “I Spent My First Sober Christmas Alone. It Was The Best One I Ever Had” by Sam Thomas in the Huffington Post. It’s a few years old, but if you are like me and going to be sober and alone this Christmas I’d suggest you give it a read. I’m going to my Monday group on Christmas Day and am excited to have the fellowship of my 12-step program to be with every day but on holidays especially. So much of my life involved the rituals of alcohol and with those gone there are new rituals to build into my new life as single and sober for the first time. I hope that anyone else struggling gives it a read and finds some comfort. Happy holidays!
