Sober and now GI issues!

I’ve been sober for 10 days !!! Yay!! But I am starting to get bloated and feel like there is something wrong with gi tract ?!? I have not had this issue when I was drinking ?!? Had this happened to anyone ? Thanks

You might want to get seen by a GI specialist  I am an RN and have seen a lot of patients that have GI or colon issues after excessive drinking for lengths of time! No need to worry or be scared, just better to be sure :pray:t3:

It happened to me at 5 days and seemed to resolve at around 14 days. For me it was taking a huge part out of my diet. I stayed hydrated and took some fiber supplements to help out. I hope it gets better.

Thanks Joseph :smiley:I’ll try the fiber supplements!

Of course! Like Joseph said below as well getting back on track to a healthy/clean digestive system…fiber supplements will definitely help as well as LOTS of water. If it’s hard for you to enjoy drinking water my mama just adds “Mio drops” to make her water taste like juice or Gatorade! You can find them at any local grocery store or pharmacy

It’s amazing what your gi system will do without drugs and/or alcohol. It has to adjust and relearn to function normally. I assure you, your fine. Maybe take a stool softener for a few days.

Magnesium! Very important. Also b6. Many drinkers are low in this. Yogurt but not the yummy sugary kind. Get kefir drink it, replenish good gut bacteria. Magnesium helps with digestion but is also an important electrolyte. But don't forget potassium and calcium as well also electrolytes. Not only are you probably depleted from drinking but your stomach biom gets wrecked by alcohol. Taking too much fiber quickly can cause increase in bloating. I suggest the herb fennel for bloating as well. Drink as a tea or taken as a tablet you can also eat it.

It’s probably your gut healing itself. When I quit drinking, my skin looked like a hormonal teenager but it was just part of the process of healing itself. It gets bad before it gets better.

Yes this. Your gut is basically reprogramming itself

Thanks for all the advice !!

Go carnivore. Cut all carbs completely. It changed my life, physically.

Thanks you

I have I could love bread

I would try alkaline water. It helps with gut health and overall body health by raising your pH to where it supposed to be. It helped me a lot!

Thank you
