I have been clean and sober now for a year and 4 months. I was rail thin when I was using and weighed about 175 and I’m 6’2. Since I’ve been clean my weight has gotten up to 230. That’s a lot of weight gain!! I’m very happy with my progress on getting and staying sober, but now I’m faced with a whole new dilemma. I’ve quit smoking cigarettes as well so I know that weight gain can happen. But I find myself unhappy with my body now. I just can’t believe that much weight accumulated over a year!! Has anyone else been faced with this?? Maybe I’m just being stupid..

I've actually lost weight stayn sober! I was a daily beer drinker tho...tons of empty carbs/cals...now that I'm not constantly hung over I've got no excuses to get back in the gym!
I quit shotgun, July 7, 2000, I went from 201 lbs 129.5 by June 3, 2001. I started drinking again &
The loss of weight made me strong. I’m doing again so I can love everyday.
Initially I lost weight. But then gained a little bit. I realized that when I was drinking I was never hungry!!
For me I gained weight because i substituted booze and cocaine with sweets and more sweets. I exercise regularly but as many know that’s only 10% to 20% of the equation. Eating right even if you don’t exercise will drop weight
