Man do they ever I have gone 2 years without and then 3 years before that. Now I am just getting pissed off
It’s sucks! Been on all those sites and apps. No luck.
Soon as I say I’m in recovery, she gone!
Maybe you can join a sports club or a healthy activity that involves a group setting. You may find sober people there. Best of luck to you!!
Go to an AA dance see if you can find a club and start going regularly
I stayed single and celibate my first year of sobriety. I was grumpy and felt tortured, but really learned a lot about myself
Thanx for that info. I want to date, but I’m scared.
Also the Alamo clubs in your areas should have valentine's dances and comedy nights and other events
Yeah I actually had a girl I was talking to on hinge ask me about why I don't drink . Suddenly she is just looking for friends at this time lol ok
My only issue with programs like AA kinda make people think/act like they are just gonna be broken forever. If you think you're gonna be broken forever and you act like you're gonna be broken forever, who in their right mind wants to deal with that? It just doesn't make sense to consider yourself "broken" forever. It's not reasonable to be that way and think someone is gonna wanna date you.
Get squared away, so you have something to offer.
I agree with you, the only thing I agree with In early sobriety is to not date In early sobriety, I feel that’s to be able to concentrate on getting sober but once that is achieved, it’s time to enjoy our lives and find out who our true selves are. That most certainly applies to romance.
Same in regard to being broken; I never refer to myself as clean, because it implies I was dirty to begin with, but then again I ain’t an AA person. Just sober, working on being a well oiled machine and conquering all my other addictions that are limiting my potential. Tried dating 6 months out, but the person I was seeing lied about drinking (more than once), so I broke things off. Been focusing on myself ever since, and going out on dates now, at times it can be frustrating to have folks ghost you. But people are out there; I’ve had better luck with apps like Hinge, but honestly I’ve had a better experience talking to complete strangers on the street, grocery store, Einstein Bros. Dating is like Sobriety; you get out of it what you invest into it.
