It's been three years since the tragic day. I od'd and almost died.
It started like any other day. Except this hangover was different. Stronger than any before. So it took more to take the edge off. Because when I woke up 3 days later in ICU,I had drank a whole bottle(handle kind) of Jack Daniel's,swallowed hands full of xanax and had been unresponsive for some time on my sofa,when my friend found me.
The following days were like a bad movie. But needed. I had horrible withdraws. Hallucinations,itching...Etc. it was awful.
Then on the 5th day I was moved to a facility because they thought I had tried to kill myself. (Which wasn't the fact).I had been baker acted. 72 hours. It was the scariest thing I've ever experienced. Although as time. Literary hours. Went by. I became this new incredible person. I learned how to experience feelings without a crutch. Make good choices. And apologize to the loved ones around me.
I continue to grow stronger every day. And never want to go back. I have zero desire to ever drink again.
I have two dogs now. One I adopted shortly after my return to everyday life. And one was my mothers. Mom passed in February. I tell them every day when we wake. Today is a day that no one has ever lived in before,so lets make the best of it.
As Auntie Mame says. Life is a banquet and most sons of bitches are starving to death. My life plate is full. Full of a Fabulous life I've built. One day at a time.

Congratulations thanks for sharing this. I have 8 day before my 1 year sober anniversary I'm glad I came across this post. The past 3 weeks been crappy for me. I been considering going back out drinking but I'm glad you made this post. I needed this. Thank you
