Sober friends

I have a great sober tribe thanks to AA. My sponsor family is great, and I’ve made lots of friends in meetings.

I agree with Shonda… I’ve made good friends from my meetings and home group. I really found out who my true friends were once I got into recovery and they’re dear to my heart.. and there’s only a few.

It is hard because sometimes even with sober friends and help you still have to face everything alone….you are what you have and I believe that is where you find your courage and even a higher power if that can be. If only that were the comfort zone we could go to and find relief. But that is the place….right where you feel most vulnerable is where we must go home and bit by bit embrace that place that is only yours and seek peace.
I am only telling you what I can do for myself and we never put enough emphasis on the power and beauty of our own essence. To love is to first love yourself which these days is hardly thought possible. I wish for you what I wish for myself and that intention is a start towards what I think is natural and divine. I hope you find some comfort in my attempts to comfort you in that it brings me comfort in trying and just is evidence of the love that’s really before everyone of us.I am in AA and have many supporting friends but you alone are first in line to be awarded by the love you need. Just know that you are strong enough to overcome your worst fears. I try to make friends with them with humor even anger but that’s me.I hope this helps…it has helped me.

So happy you’re here! Happy new year !

Go to any aa meetings.:dromedary_camel:

Listen we are in this together. I’ve had 4 years clean once before I relapsed. Now I have the experience and knowledge not to do it again. You don’t have to get rid of your friends, but I’d suggest getting more sober friends and taking a break from your friends now. I removed myself from my friends and have 3 sober roommates. We all look out for each other and we can tell when something is wrong. It’s good to have them, because when one of us is feeling a certain way we all go and grab that person and talk to them then go do something fun sober. People here have been great to me. You have me and everyone else on this app as sober friends

Happy healthy new year Erin! I have gotten sober through zoom and the amazing AA groups I attend. They are the most amazing, brilliant, support group. And are from all over! I would say hop on as many meetings as you can, or in person and your sober network will grow immediately! Best wishes into the new year!

Welcome tough spot to be in. I was in the same situation it all came down to going to any length to get sober.always cheering you on! Happy new year my friend!

I need sober friends too, just sent you a friend request!

Find a meeting as soon as you can, reach out while you're there and do some fellowship with a woman that has some experience and recovery. A woman that has what you want in life. The sooner the better

Well it worked for me when I got away from everyone who drank. stayed away until

It can be hard but I actually feel bad for my friends who still drink. My best friend is probably an alcoholic but I still love her. I pray for her to get into recovery but she has to want to do it. I just feel like a completely different person now

I know from going through the steps, I no longer mind if I’m around people drinking. I’m not cocky and not afraid anymore. That being said, it took me several tries to get through the steps with my sponsor. Keep trying and it will get easier.:pray:t2::yin_yang:

I’ve been trying since 2010 but never hung more than6 months in AA then I stopped. I watch Dr Phil and he told this addict cause we don’t feel we deserve good things and more. But it hit me I give and give but drink alone but I decided I DO deserve better and since then 2022 is my year. Hope this made sense I have 6 days and not stopping

Congrats!!!

You need to get to meetings
Get a sponsor
Be around sober people
The best part about my sobriety is going to meetings and everyone understands who I am
