What is 1 sober goal you plan to achieve in the next 90 days, and how do you plan to achieve it?
I am going to finish my 4th and 5th steps
My goal is not to drink for today
Mine too.
Get in better shape by continuing to exèrcise
Me, too. Well, I have to take it easy for the next few weeks. Then, I can get more into it.
That's not easy to do. But a huge burden is lifted when it is done.
Keep up the great work.
My addiction extends to working out and it's hard not to overdo it. Avoiding an injury that would put me out longer is how I convince myself to take days off
Im with you Zach… but not because it reminds me of school.. just not for me…i want to understand why I drank…I had a rough childhood with alot of unmet needs…
Meet with my sponsor and schedule another meeting and repeat
This is an awesome question!!!
Right now at this point of my sobriety, I want to turn more of my life over to the care of God as I understand Him. Don’t get me wrong I have God in my life. I’m talking about those moments where I’m taking back willpower. Where I think I’m running the show. Today was a great day! I owe a big Thank you to God! He listens when we talk, it’s I need to listen when He talks.
Yes! For real. When I pray I find time to just shut up so He can speak; and I also try to be attentive to His voice when I speak. It took some time to learn to do both. It's worth it.
That’s awesome! It’s those quiet moments in meditation that we can hear the message.
I actually had one today, check it out, I was at lunch outside on a round table with and umbrella. Super hot outside. After I finished my lunch I was checking the stock market as it was about to close. I’m doing my normal routine when I started to do something different as if I was being directed by this unknown force or knowledge. I was reading news clips of the highs and lows of the week. This one stock jumped out at me so I clicked on it. It read that it was going to pay dividend on 6/17 but you had to own the stock today. Today was the cut off for the dividend payout. I literally had 5 minutes to make the buy. It’s little moments like these that I know I have a higher power who is looking out for me. I just need to get out of the way.
There is a song by Toby Keith called the list… those are my sober goals.
I'm in Lancaster, ca at the open door AA meeting hall they will have "back to basics" workshop there its great!! This weekend is the last weekend but it continues every month.
Talk to god and.... Keep Coming Back...
I know what you mean. Growing up I thought I had an advantage because I lived in the same house with both my parents. Now as an adult I realize I was a "fatherless" kid so to speak. Yes, I knew who my dad was, and saw him- but he wasn't an active parent.
I got yelled at and corrected more often than not. His sleep was more important than my pain. I remember crying because my friend died (and he knew why I was crying), my dad threatened to whoop me if I didn't "shut up with all that noise." He never came to a graduation, school conference, nothing. We stopped eating out with him because he called my brothers greedy for eating more than 1 plate at a buffet. But my dad didn't ensure we ate 90% during our childhood.
It sucks because I lived with a "present" absent father.
Continue to improve my conscious contact with my HP, continue to clean house, and help others:)
I thought this exact same thing, but I did the steps because I was so desperate to get sober it felt like the only thing to do. When I did 4/5 is when I really got to the root of why I drank. I have a fantastic sponsor as well who didn’t make it seem forced, that could also be a huge part of it. But I get the whole not for everyone.
Might sound a touch weird, but I'm taking a two week trip to south Florida to visit my best friend. Been awhile since we were in the same state / country at the same time.
I've already knocked down my other social goals so on to this one!
