Sobriety induced loneliness

I’m two days away from 9 months sober, but I’m finding myself feeling lonely. I’ve had to discard my old friends as they “drinking friends”. And now, I’m finding that despite how good I feel sober, I have this lingering feeling of isolation and loneliness. Anyone else going through this? Is it because of the holiday weekend? Hope everyone is having a great holiday weekend.

I instantly lost my friends
I started working in therapy
I joined sober FB and Instagram groups and started listening to sober podcasts
I found a local group for like
Minded people not AA
I am still alone
But happy it’s a lonely I choose not that I created by mistakes I made

I’m sorry to hear that, but I can definitely relate. I thought all I had to do was stop drinking. And everything else would be fine. Man, was I wrong. I’m grateful to be able to take part in this journey of sobriety. But man, did I underestimate how life changing it really is. What podcasts do you listen to? I like the “sober cast”. It’s a podcast of AA speaker meetings.

Im a loner honestly and I like it maybe you’ll find ways to stay busy by yourself
