Dry drunks just stop drinking and dont work on changing their thoughts, behaviors and actions. I firmly believe that unless you actively work on changing yourself that not drinking is not enough. Sobriety has a lot of aspects, and I think not drinking is the first and one of the hardest steps. Once we stop drinnking, then we can tackle the other aspects of recovery. Hope everyone has a good, sober day!
Hi Linda, I agree 100%, I relapsed after being "dry" for 7 years and not working a program,,,,,I'm working the HECK out of the program this time tho for that emotional sobriety that will make me a better person. Have a great day everyone
Glad you are working hard on your emotional sobriety and hope you see positive results!!
Reminds of the saying “I can for my drinking, but I stay for my thinking”. I know what it’s like to be dry…like a desert lol. Changing what has been drilled thru my thick skull for over 50 years has been quite the challenge. However, I’ve enjoyed digging deep and becoming unstuck. Thanks for sharing Linda
Yeah, you can live without drinking/drugs but you can't live without thinking! And since other people won't change, WE have to change...sigh...
