Sobriety, just for today

I am at a point in my sobriety that, by the Grace of God, is not dependent on anything of this world. It's in the hands of my higher power. It's not on situations, people, places, or things. My higher power is not subject to the whims of life. For that I'm grateful.

Service in and out of the rooms has been invaluable to my continued sobriety today. This is nothing short of a miracle considering how insane I was before working this program painstakingly and without reservations.

All of this, I get very little credit for. Without my higher power and other alcoholics and addicts giving back what was so freely given to them I'd be out there doing what I always did and getting what I always got. I am at peace with the fact that I'll never graduate from this program and that it's a daily reprieve from my disease.

There's nothing quite like going to bed with a clear conscience and at peace in my own skin today. The 9th step promises are real and are coming true a little more each day. I have faith that God's will for me today has me exactly where I'm supposed to be in my recovery.

I'm real glad to be sober, just for today.
