I'm actually quitting cigarettes today. I think it's easy to confuse withdraw feelings which why most folks advise to put one thing down at a time. I've spent some time analyzing smoking and there really isn't any benefit to it. However, if delaying quiting smoking helps you stay sober from other stuff, then that would male sense to me.
I quit cigarettes one year to the day after I quit booze & drugs. Figured it was a good date that worked the first time. Plus now I celebrate everything on one day. Lol
It is very common for somebody to smoke alot of tobacco and drink alot of coffee when they are detoxing from other stimulants and also later in the first stages of recovery from their chosen poison. The important part is to work on your program and abstain from behaviors that cause triggers to use the substance that you came to recovery for. Almost as important is that you not substitute something else in place of your addiction to allow your addiction to continue because that will undermine your program.
Your program is the most important part, and it must be done with rigorous honesty and determination .
You can give up cigarettes later once you have some better tools maybe and that would be a lot easier on yourself in a more loving way to go through recovery than to try to dump everything at once , but ultimately, itβs a decision that you have to make based on your situation and what works for you in recovery.
