Is it okay for me to smoke cigarettes while me trying to stay & support my sobriety??

I started smoking cigars when I first got sober this time, I don't know if it helped or not but now I'm trying to quit and finding it difficult. I think it'd trading one addiction for another slightly less worse

Yeah I get that. I mean I smoke cigarettes and vape but that's about it. But I rather smoke cigarettes then to be addicted to drugs I used to be a dope addict which I don't have the desire to do drugs really anymore. It's not worth risking me losing my freedom. I'm glad I was down in prison and jail for the 5yrs & 6mths that I did. It all starts with changing ur mindset

I say yes. Beats the alternative.
Nobody ever got a DUI for too many Marlboro’s

Tackle one thing at a time. Absolutely smoke. Things will get stressful and your fellowship will always be there but sometimes you just need a quick calm me down. Smokes are great for that.

I say fight one battle at a time, or things get overwhelming. First build a strong foundation in recovering from drugs , once you feel like you are a lot stronger then attempt stopping nicotine.

Yes. I smoked before. I smoke now. I hate it. It would be terrible to beat the thing that was supposed to destroy only to die from death smokes. I’m going to beat them too. I think we should focus on the task at hand. Best of luck. Stay sober and happy .

I was Sober for about 2 years and I didn’t smoke cigarettes, then my Oldest son passed away, and I picked again. Then a year later, I got clean again, and still no smoking cigarettes, but 3 years later my other son Died, and instead of picking up drugs AGAIN, I started smoking cigarettes. In a weird way, it helped me cope with my Grief. Now, I’m ready to stop. My advice to you, if it’s gonna help you stay sober, then go ahead and smoke a CIGARETTE!!

i think so for sure lol. could be worse things we’re doing

Do what it takes to keep your sobriety..sobriety comes first

I smoke hon, I don’t think that on the grand scale of things, why make your recovery tougher by taking such a physical crutch, but if it’s a goal of yours to put cigarettes down too maybe you should draw out a timeline where you ease into that once you are stronger against your drug/ alcohol cravings.

Sure. Deal with 1 problem at a time

I don't know what's going on with aa but back in the day the meetings had ash trays in them

They told me in my first year to not stop tobacco or coffee you can do that later when you have more time
