Sobriety Toolbox Tools

Hi all! I just listened to the most recent episode of Recovery Rocks (super rad recovery podcast by two women). They were discussing their sobriety toolbox and I thought it would be cool to get a discussion started here about what’s in our sobriety toolbox. For me, the two biggest things are mindfulness and yoga when things get upset. To maintain a good balance I like to listen to recovery podcasts (ask if you would like suggestions), read books and scholarly journals about recovery, and I stay plugged into a supportive community. What is in your sobriety toolbox?

If I’m having any type of urge or stressor, I change me setting by listening to music, going for a walk, guided meditation, talking to family…and I also have a list of things I’d lose or have lost due to the use of alcohol. Not healthy to look back too much in regards to the list…but it’s sobering reminder pun intended. :grinning: also maintaining a healthy diet and ongoing therapy.

Yes! I definitely have the list that comes out every once in a while too! Sometimes I need that reality check.

I have a sponsor, and several amazing friends who all have sobriety and work strong programs of recovery. I reach out with rigorous honesty.

I also come on this app and try to help someone by answering a question they might have, or by sharing what has worked for me.
