Some days it feels like I suddenly hit a wall

Some days it feels like I suddenly hit a wall. Like everything I do to pass time and entertain myself is pointless, just wasting energy. It makes me feel like a bad or worthless person, which is often the mindset I had that led me to binge-drinking to cope. It makes me irritable and more guilty feeling.
Am I the only one who feels this way?

No, you’re not the only one. I feel restless and bored sometimes, just get down on myself and the negative thoughts snowball. I know the things that I should do but don’t feel like doing them. Ride it out. It will pass and b replaced w different feelings. Just the ebb and flow of experiencing life with clarity, I guess :sunglasses:

Youre definitely not alone. I sometimes feel like I dug myself so deep that ill never truly be happy or feel worthwhile to anyone. I honestly dont know why i havent just given up and relapsed other than my personal pride in staying sober. Take even the small victories for now and be proud of it, and hopefully better things come your way.

No way. I think a lot of us do. I find I tend to romanticize my past drinking days and remember only the good feelings. Our minds gloss over and block out the ugly aspects. The hangovers, the broken promises we made to ourselves and others, the embarrassment, shame and self-loathing of our actions when we were using. So I know when I feel like succumbing to the temptation that’s it’s “the lady” that’s what I call alcohol, trying to tempt me back into her web of deceit and lies. I remember this and I kick those feelings to the curb. I know I’m a better human all around than when I was drinking.

I feel you. I’m currently in an episode of zero motivation. They always pass though. Keep pushing, PEAKS and VALLEYS.

How long have you been sober? I hit that wall around 3-6 months of sobriety. Was very uncomfortable. And it was during the first shutdown of Covid… I did a lot of hiking in 2020 and 2021. That really helped me get out of my self. I also did a few zoom meetings. Lots of work on here helped me. Remember this too shall pass. It always does.

I recently watched an educational series by Dr. Joe Dispenza called Rewired. This has changed my life.

I remind myself that when I have bad days, good days are around the corner. It's temporary. Also I cut myself some slack, if all I accomplished was staying sober on bad days, then it could've been worse!

I have a suggestion, it's called STEPS!

Feelings fluting stink. Hitting an emotional walk and what feels as though it is a dead end especially when a bunch of things come to the surface making you feel raw and feel like earss. Try not to put it into such a dichotomy. Attempt to learn to take things as they come but sit in it and process it instead of feeling as though you have to repress or push it away. Easier stated than done. I am speaking from experience. I repressed a lot of sheet and thought I had processed it. Guess I didn't. Learn to make peace so you can move forward. Truly find what works for you. Ever one has an earshole. Some are fuller of themselves than others. Attempt to find your blend of what you want to change and how you want to get there.:slightly_smiling_face:
