Some takeaways from the rooms and gratitude lists

"Advice that is not asked for is criticism."

“Honesty without compassion is hostility.”

I'm guilty of giving advice to people directly when they haven't asked specifically for it. Since being sober, when people vent to me, I ask: do you want advice or a listening ear? And then respond accordingly. I think it has strengthened my relationships and made communicating so much better. I don't cause the minor resentments in those around me for "talking over" or giving "unsolicated advice" or make anyone feel inferior in conversations like i used to. I was unaware i was doing it and glad i found a better way to communicate with people and let them get what they need out of conversations rather than them being or appearing to be all about me. Patience is key. And i dont think if i wasnt sober i wouldnt have the patience to try and to just listen when needed.
