Wisdom shouts in the street; in the public square she raises her voice. Above the noisy crowd, she calls out. At the entrances of the city gates, she has her say: “How long will you clueless people love your naïveté, mockers hold their mocking dear, and fools hate knowledge? You should respond when I correct you. Look, I’ll pour out my spirit on you. I’ll reveal my words to you.”

How are you at listening to advice? Do you have people you can trust, or do you doubt what others say, especially when they think you are about to make a bad decision? People offer us wisdom all the time, don’t they? However, their words don’t always resonate with us. We choose to ignore it. Sometimes ignoring it works out for us – but sometimes it doesn’t. When that happens, we have to hear, “I told you so!” So annoying, right?
Perhaps solid wisdom is hit-or-miss with people. But when decisions need to be made, what about God’s wisdom? Do you seek it? Does God get your attention?
The scriptures tell us God’s wisdom is perfect. God is for us, not against us. God will not deceive us. Not only that, God’s wisdom is present wherever we are. If we commit ourselves to seeking God’s direction, God’s wisdom is showered upon us. If a big decision is at hand, give God a listen. I’d hate to say, “I told you so.”

Holy God, thank you for never leading me astray. Help me lean on you when those big choices are upon me and I need sound guidance. Amen.
