Spending time alone

I feel I've become more if an introvert in my sobriety. I'm not trying to isolate, I just genuinely enjoy my own company now that I'm sober. It's like I'm learning who I am again and I'm really enjoying that process. As a codependent, making the decision to want to spend time with myself instead of constantly engrossed in friendships or relationships is new for me. I still make time for the people in my life I care about....perhaps this is just me finally learning what healthy boundaries and relationships look like? Can anyone relate?

Yes, I was always outgoing but the older I get and in recovery I get more introverted. It's fine with me! You aren't alone

I relate :100:

Absolutely. I've spent most of my time by myself, as far back as I can remember

Completely. It's nice being able to just take moments by myself and not feel that old "darkness", just be me and live in today, not burdened by my past nor anxious about tomorrow. Hallmark of true recovery is being ok with yourself in the day, and establishing healthy boundaries, as you said. Congratulations, we're normal people now

Yep. But I’ve always been an introvert.

I knew who I was and didn’t like it, now I’m trying to determine who I am and what I want my future to look like. For me, that only happens when I’m alone without the constant reminders of who I was and who others want me to be. People that don’t want to change don’t seem to like seeing others change.

I too am an introvert at heart. Been deep cleaning my house good because when I was drinking I wasn’t exactly the best house cleaner. Been spending time outside and with my kids more. Thinking about joining a gym finally and releasing some stress and just to make me feel better in general.

I used to hate being alone by myself. I didn’t like the person I was alone with. I’m learning to like that person a little now but it’s a process

Lots of these

But I think everyone says a lot of other things when they just mean that

So I won’t talk for a long time, which is how I generally operate, to describe  unless asked :joy:

I bargain with everyday using a lot of language. I shouldn’t.

Other people call that being someone who has ever studied or taught philosophy and math at the same time being an addict.

Books are written about it and become really long accidental suicide notes that they don’t know they are writing yet, even as they are doing it.

Introverts and philosophers are the same people usually

So maybe I know you and maybe you know me.

I tend to be introvert myself If I'm not at work I'm usually home just relaxing cleaning the house etc

Maybe what I mean to be saying is both

And

There’s a good reason with fewer words to make someone feel that it meant something even over some internet medium where our fingers type some stuff instead of giving a huge hug.

Yes I can. Because of every thing going on in the world I love my self enough I can be alone and not drink. Which is wonderful

Just don’t forget meetings
