I tried finding one online too. No luck. Maybe a fb group?

Keep plugging away in here is my suggestion. FB can be a rabbit hole. There are some truly gifted powerful ladies on here to choose from I have seen. Just remember sponsors have lives to live also. Might be hit and miss in beginning yet I’m sure you’ll find one. Best to keep in your lane tho. As in others like you, women. Good luck.

Have you been going to in person meetings? Maybe a woman’s group? Hope you find a great home group. There really is something that hits different when sitting around the tables with others.

You could write a note and put it in a bottle and throw it in the ocean? Maybe you could get a sponsor then? Maybe there is an app for THAT?

Or maybe just get your a$$ to a meeting and do it the right way. Nobody wants to sponsor someone via the internet or txt. A big part of sponsorship is in person so they can tell whether you're bullshtting them or not.

If you want to get better, feel better etc, do the work. Not everything is going to be easy. You're gonna have to prove you're a real person and not just exist online in some curated form. It's hard work, it really is, but I think it will be worth it. You're here, so you must want it. Take the steps.

I don't know where you live but here in Colorado I was referred to a non profit called advocates for recovery. I have started working with what they call a peer coach who guides you through their program. It has been the beginning of a good relationship with someone who is living active recovery. It's been a blessing and of course there is work. There are daily meetings via zoom or in person and I meet personally with my coach regularly. It may be something to look into. Always remember you are worth it.

I needed and found a sponsor eventually. I kept going to meetings and looked only for the similarities, not the differences. The in person aspect is absolutely necessary for me.

I started using an app called ThePhoenix. It’s a sober community that has events you can attend. If you live near a larger city you should be able to find some stuff near by.

I found my sponsor at a rock climbing event. We both go to meetings, not the same home group tho. He doesn’t live far and we talk often.

Why the hesitation to find a sponsor in person? Sponsors not only give great perspective but also hugs. Everybody could use some of those, especially early on.

Part of this journey is stepping out of our comfort zones. We’ve build a shell so nobody can see our pain and it’s what we know best. Forget all that, if what we wanted was always best for us we wouldn’t be where we are today.

Take the leap, committing to a sponsor isn’t a permanent thing if you don’t want it to be. If you find that person isn’t right for you just move on and try again.

There is...I have an app called 12 step toolkit! You can find a sponsor.

I want a sponsor in person. I have tried the zoom stuff and I hate it. Kuz then I just ignore the calls. I just meant to finding a sponsor on a online platform to then meet in person

I found it difficult too. My best advise is to go to several different groups until you find one you like! Then go to that group several times until you find someone you like, then ask. You might be more comfortable in a woman only group?

I got my sponsor over Zoom during the pandemic. Still my sponsor today. Maybe try some Zoom meetings and just put it out there you're looking for a sponsor. My first year sponsoring was mostly on Zoom. I know a few great Zoom book studies lmk if anyone would like information for that.

If anyone would like to work the steps or have questions about the steps I'd be glad to help.

Do you have other sober women you could ask if they know of someone who would be willing to sponsor you? I found word of mouth to be very helpful and that’s how I found my sponsor.
