Starting week 2. My get out of bed routine includes reminding myself that today I get to do some good for people. Seems to work for me. Any other “mantras” or encouraging thoughts I can add?
I always make my bed right after I get up. Started doing it the day I got sober. For me it is a reminder that the day is new.
Congrats on week two Ernie ! I found it a little humorous when people told me “one day at a time” when in reality it felt like one second , minute , hour . At a time . For me , i struggled with me spiritual awakening and surrendering myself to a higher power given I’m not religious …. Or spiritual . But now being 41 days what helped me was saying to myself “Today is a great day, i can and i will” , sounds cheesy but for a long time i felt it was impossible to ever get sober , so i figured , I’m always going to be an addict / alcoholic so might as well keep using/ drinking, but everyday i Amaze myself with what in can do with simply being sober , I can be of service to people, be a great employee, be a great daughter, a loving friend and partner , be the kind stranger at a grocery store helping someone to their car . Drive those positive thoughts in ur brain to the point where ur not even trying to convince yourself anymore , you ARE exactly what you are saying to yourself
Do some stretching and breathing exercises (try 4 second box breathing) and tell yourself that you aren't going to be an assh@le to anyone today.
