Staying active in my recovery is the most important thing in my life. I build my life around my recovery, not the other way around. Meeting makers make it. I go to meetings even if I don't feel like it. Especially if I don't feel like it. Hearing other people's experience, strength, and hope reinforces that another way is possible. Working the steps help me get rid of behavior that causes me misery, pain, guilt, remorse, and anger. I am honest, open-minded, and willing. I am teachable. I am of service with commitments and reaching out to other addicts. I have purpose. I have a loving higher power that guides me in living with spiritual principles like love, kindness, forgiveness, acceptance, and humility. My obsession to use has been lifted. I am loved. I have self-respect and respect for others. My life may not be perfect, but it's well worth living. And I know more will be revealed.
