I went to rehab about a year ago, but I have relapsed. I am not in the state where I can quit. I feel hopeless in changing my home environment. I don't feel that I can function without drinking. I can already feel my body breaking down, constant pain in my abdomen. Just need to reach out to people who have accomplished the hard part.
I drank 24/7 for 28 years. My sponsor told me from the first day: Remember the 3 rules- Don't drink don't drink don't drink. It seems impossible @ first, but I got over a year 100% sober. Not every day is good, but every month is way better than the ones before it.
The best thing for you is to go rehab where you can SAFELY detox. Then as soon as you get out head straight to a meeting, raise your hand and let them know your new and need help. You will be amazed at all the women willing to help you.
Hey Stephanie, I was in that mindset 5 months ago. My home environment is definitely toxic + the most difficult part for me. Which suuuucks cause that’s supposed to be a safe space, right? So I get it.
My situation is still the same (unfortunately) but I’ve managed to make some changes to claw myself out of that thinking and get sober. Mainly, spending as much time possible NOT at home. Being outdoors, at the pool/gym, at meetings, volunteering, time with friends/family, taking my kids on adventures. Crowd that schedule with positive spaces. Wanna share some more so we can all help you troubleshoot? I’ll add you if you want to send a note privately and talk too.
Yes, I would love that! Still getting to know the app so.....lol
Awesome, no worries! It took me a bit to get the hang of it as well. Here whenever you are ready.
Stay strong. I went to AA for a while. Then went to rehabe. 80 days later relapse, got a DUI. Went back to rehabe. Now I'm 7 days from 90 days sober. It happens. I took my relapse and spanked it and carried on with my sobriety. I hope that helps.
It does, I know that it can be done. Most days it is just a fact that I self sabotage. Congratulations on your progress, we may not be on the same journey but we are heading in the same direction.
