Last year I worked during my first sober holiday season. This year I was completely alone. I did volunteer ton but at the end of the day I was alone. I can’t find a therapist, I have reached out and tried so many times. No one gets back to you or they don’t take insurance or HSA cards, it’s maddening. Two people from my circle this month ended their own lives. Makes like four or five this year. Why is mental health a back seat in our society? Sharing a dog picture to make people smile who are also struggling
I’m sorry for your losses. Mental health will take a back seat as long as capitalism is driving the car, unfortunately.
Several podcasts I listen to advertise for betterhelp.com. Maybe that’s something that will work for you?
Anyway, happy holidays! Glad you’re here!
Especially in men. Men just have to suck it up, hence the high level of male suicide. I'm sorry you were alone for the holiday. I'm lucky enough to have my parents back in my life, cause my mental health teeters sometimes. Reach out to me on here if you just need to vent. We all do. Take care and I'm glad you are still here.
Our society is full of shït. Mental health isn't economically viable to giant corporations. Only on the surface where they can sell you placebos happy pills pharma etc. Nobody wants to see commercials about mental health, "that's a bummer, man". We need a constant stream of büllshit happy people doing happy people shït.
Social workers who are there to help people adjust and become me productive are paid almost nothing, and are severely overworked.
I took a mental health day last week and stayed in the Frederick Stearns Inn, in Detroit. Fireplace, hot tub, great breakfast. Worth checking out. I needed it after dealing with my sister's boyfriends brother for 3 days. Typical red faced, drunk "bro" loudmouth. Ugh.
I am so sorry for your loss. It is a terrible thing when someone takes their own life.
This last year suicide touched my circle as well.
My experience recently has been that there is a high demand for mental health services. Far higher than the number of providers. This is why it is difficult to get help at times. Hopefully more concerned people will go into the field to help those in need.
There's an app called "Youper." I have been using it for years. Not only will it help you find a therapist, if you subscribe it acts like a virtual one. There's a 30 day trial.
Medicine helped when I couldn’t afford counseling. Insurance pays better for antidepressants and it was and still is helpful.
Thank you for the picture.
Dogs are awesome therapy!!! Love my dog! I can and do tell her anything and everything
Love that puppy pic! Thank you and do me a favor. Look in the mirror and smile at the face looking back at you. You deserve it!
Back before therapists and hsas and insurance their was the church. I know it's not my thing but getting involved with groups can help you find what you need to get that connection. I hope you are able to find what you need.
