Stoked to still be sober but it gets lonely sometimes

Stoked to still be sober but it gets lonely sometimes. I spend 90% of my time alone. I’m introverted and am stuck because I’m too shy for my own good! :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Have you gone to any meetings? Take it slow, little steps. The people will be welcoming and you can meet some really good people, who understand what you have been through.

I know how you feel

It can be tough in early recovery to get out and meet people. Just remember if we change nothing nothing changes. Get comfortable being uncomfortable

Thx Steve

I have 7 years but feel alone

Good advice Michael

I have a little over 10 years and I still am lonely at times

I had a really bad medical accident and smashed my face. “The head banging incident” as I call it, has made me even more self-conscious.

I still look okay but not like I used to. I broke my nose and fractured my cheekbones. I’m all healed now but get even more introverted because of it.

I’ll be in Livermore tomorrow on business. Small world

Fellow introvert here! I also like to spend most of my time alone, but I’ve found a couple things that have helped when I want to be social.

  1. I found an AA group so I could meet people. I don’t go every week, but I was able to get a few phone numbers and have been invited to some events which is nice
  2. Zoom meetings (for me) hit that sweet spot of being “social” but you can still physically be in your home comfort zone
  3. I have a list of things I can do around town that are non-alcohol-centric. (Hint- anything sports or workout related is a great start!)

Hope this helps!!

Thx everyone :relaxed:

I’m all about going to AA. I dropped all my friends when I got sober. I’ve pretty much been an introvert since since I got sober. I have met a lot of people in AA. I don’t know what I would do w/o them. Try them out.

I can't seem to maintain my sobriety because of the loneliness. It's hard. I go to work (if I'm not under the influence) and then I go home to an empty house. That's it. I wish I could offer some solutions, but I can't get around the solitude myself. Hopefully we'll both find our way through.

Hang in Ryan-you can do it!
