Lauren,
I can’t speak to the withdrawals as that was not my issue, but I’m friends with and around a lot of NA addicts that have overcome terrible situations and made it through the other side with Joy, Peace, and a new outlook on life. I know detox is serious and would follow someone’s lead on that that is trained. However most of the people I know will tell you that medically assisted detox can be just as rough and still keep them in a state of not being present and addicted to something else. The folks I know who have overcome are very hardcore on no Suboxone and even at times wont take a Tylenol because they don’t want to alter thier mental state. No joke. So I’m not suggesting anything here other than there may be another long term way and people out there that Were worst than us that made it out. My recovery folks lean heavy on the 12 steps, daily reprieve based on our spiritual conditions, and a full time connection to our higher power who I define as Jesus Christ.
For myself I would say community of people around you that you can have support you is supper important. And getting around others in NA,AA, SA etc… super important. We all get it. If it wasn’t for our recovery community this would be impossible.
I hope you hang in there and find your peace. This is really Tough and fear and hopelessness’s can be paralyzing. But there is a solution.
I believe that finding that balance between all, the physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, and community the answer will fall somewhere on that spectrum.
Hang in there and keep coming back. Don’t give up you can do this.
