Struggling to maintain focus on recovery. Lately went back to

Struggling to maintain focus on recovery. Lately went back to school and changed careers and have kind of taken my foot off the gas on the recovery front because I have gotten very busy with the other things. Haven't been to a meeting in I don't even know how long and kind of white knuckling it at the moment. Looking for tips to help get back on track, I know making time for meetings is a big start but I have had a hard time actually doing it.

It sounds like you answered your own question. "Make time for a meeting." Maybe try virtual or get a few people to do a three-way call and do a meeting that way. Just try to take one hour out of the week to hit a meeting some way or form. You got this!

Hang tough Jess. We all need community. Make the time.

Well, always keep the sobriety first. All the other things won’t matter if you use. All the excuses in the world won’t justify using. I mean, one hour is all you need for a meeting during the day. Zoom makes hitting a meeting simple. Hope you keep that sobriety going. Thanks for being honest just now.

Lori, welcome back! So glad you are! Remember that there is a whole community of other alcoholics/addicts here to support you and we know how it feels. Congrats on day one!

I have to agree with the rest - go to a meeting. A real meeting, with real people....then!....go back to the same meeting...with the same people.....then!...go back to...(see where this is going?). Make sober friends. See them regularly. Prioritize your sobriety. Just a suggestion. :relaxed:

Hey me to. Glad I found this app

A lot of zoom meetings I go to are better than in person. Sometimes I just login and listen just to be reminded of my recovery.

I went to meetings when I wanted to. When I didnt go it was because Indidnt really want to. Didnt really want to be sober. Was just tired of people being mad at me. When I decided it was life and death and I wanted to live I did it for me.

Zoom meetings every half hour on AA intergroup

It seems like you're on the right track as it is. You've moved on and you're doing positive things in your life. That's all you need.

Just focus on your and your mental health. You are staying sober that’s a huge plus. I’ve been two years clean meetings might work for you but they don’t for me. Kinda bring everything up to surface but I understand what you mean.

Keep working hard and hard work will pay off in the end.

I’m kinda lost on what to do. I recently lost my wife in a car accident and I’m struggling to stay afloat….I wish the best for you and your journey
