Struggling to take the step

Been abusing opioids daily for about 6 months now and I want to stop but the withdrawals and the negative things that come with stopping are keeping me from going through with it and quitting, I guess I’m just scared.

I abused opioids for 8 yrs. Particularly prescribed pain meds until it was so noticeable by my dr. that I was taken off of them abruptly. Then I bought them off the streets. Long story short I wanted to start suboxone/subutec treatment. However, the same Dr. referred me to a treatment called vivitrol. It worked wonders for me. I did relapse afterwards but it did greatly help. I'm not sure of your insurance/treatment options but its definitely worth looking into. Just going cold turkey took me about 12-14 days to start feeling somewhat normal. Eventually I had to have a antidepressant (Effexor) and anti-anxiety (propranolol) med prescribed which was mostly due to combat but also from the several years of abusing opioids.

Detox? Rehab? Meetings?

I dealt with the same thing but now that I’m off, I’m way happier. The detox is hard but doctors can help. Get a doctor on your side and get into rehab. It will help

That’s my one problem is that I don’t have health insurance so idk how I’m gonna be able to get that medical help I need

There is some treatment options that will take you without insurance. Call 211 or text 898211 imo you get better results by calling 211. I believe that number is through United way, select the mental health option. I think the mental health/substance abuse option is number 5. Then make sure you actually talk to a person. Tell them you don't have insurance and that you're looking for rehabs/treatment options in your area that will take you without insurance. They will email you a list of rehabs in your immediate area or as far away as you like. They do the search process by city or zip code.
