Struggling with a break up with my now ex girlfriend.. Been with her 18 months .. She broke uo with me over text message 2 days before my 3 year cake .. When you think someones loves you and you realize that they weren’t really in it

This just happened to me in my very early recovery. I simply had to focus on the only that will give me hope for happiness, and that is sobriety. Be strong Paul, picking up definitly won't help.

I'm so sorry to hear this Paul. I've been there. Best advice i can give is to focus on yourself and staying sober. I hope you feel better soon.

Congrats on 3 years, that's huge! Double my distance from my last drink so far. I'm pretty sure my sponsor would listen to me spill my struggle all over the floor then tell me "this too shall pass... now go help someone." :sunglasses:
In all seriousness though, this is where the rubber meets the road, when we struggle. The tools we learn in recovery are just theory until the things go south and we have to rely on our higher power. I believe that in time, hindsight will make this into an event that strengthened you.

She is showing you just how strong you are in her absence. Sometimes, people leave our lives, and it is a blessing in disguise. Who knows the wonderful people you will meet as you enter this new chapter in your life. Congratulations on 3 years - that was all you. You did that!

Breakups in recovery are something I tell ya, especially around a milestone. :pensive: I’m really sorry that happened. But I’m proud of you for staying sober through it.

One day, you are gonna look back and realize it was a blessing in disguise. I was DESTROYED when this happened to me, and I realize now, it was one of the best things that could have happened. It’s okay to grieve, just keep pressing forward! You got this man.
